I really love RTS games. I liked Starcraft, Total Innihilation, the whole Command & Conquer series, everything Close Combat, Age of Empires, Code Name Panzers, Company of Heroes, etc. What else is out there which I haven't played yet and which is really fun?

For more...mainstream style RTS games, I'd take a look at Sins of a Solar Empire and the 1st Supreme Commander.

EDIT--not sure if this needs mentioning, but Starcraft 2 is coming out soon as well.

+1 on Supreme Commander(Sup Com 2 is nothing like the original, it's just watered down version made for the console market), Starcraft 2,and Rome Total War

I'd also add World in Conflict, Men of War, and AI War: Fleet Command w/ expansion.

I dislike Real Time Strategies like Starcraft, Command & Conquer, Dawn of War. I dislike base building and hitpoint based combat.

I like Real Time Wargames like Firefignt, Warhammer: Dark Omen, Armored Brigade, etc.

Warhammer 40k is more commonly called Dawn of War. While it was originally a miniatures board game, the video game series was made by the same people that brought you Company of Heroes- Relic. Last Year Relic released Dawn of War II, the sequel to the entire series and even more recently the chaos rising expansion. Pretty fun, takes a decent computer run(seems to use a new engine thats very noticeably more demanding than Company of Heroes) but overall it's pretty good series.

You said you like RTS so you should really like the Warhammer series. My favorite is Dawn Of War Dark Crusade. Do you use Steam at all?

Although I prefer turn-based games, I still have some RTS favorites. Would you believe I still have Warcraft II installed on my Vista PC?

That's the last Warcraft that was good. Warcraft 3 didn't stay on my hard drive for long.

You might want to take a look at Rise of Nations and King Arthur, too. And I agree that taking a look at the Warhammer 40K : Dawn of War stuff is also worth it.

Gary,

If you like RTS, like LarryP said, don't miss the Warhammer series. Get the Platinum Edition, you should be able to get it from NWS at a very reasonable price.

Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising are both good, with a small number of units and some aspects of RPG thrown in for good measure. If you get the Dawn of War get DOW2 first. Chaos Rising is a stand alone game, but not as good as the first one. There are rumors of another coming out in the near future.

The first Dawn of War game and all of it's expansions are must plays. There is not many greater thrills in gaming than commanding an elite Space Marine force as it faces down heretics and aliens for the glory of the Emperor.
It perfectly captures the minatures which I spent way too much money and way too much time on in college.

All excellent choices; although WiC was a little fast for my aging reflexes.
