Hello: I recently bought distant worlds, have always been a 4x space game fan (MOO2 & CIV are the best games ever). So far, I like it. It's taken me a while to work through the interface and there are some odd situations occurring that I don't understand; there seems to be a conflict between the auto manage & manual override controls. Anyway, this is about the 4th game or so I've started and the furthest I've gotten along. I think I've finally broken the financial "tanking" syndrome which seemed to stop me flat in my first couple games (by building more construction ships, simple as that). Anyway, this is the situation I have now: shown in the GIF image. I found the korrabian spice moon, and I sent one of my construction ships there manually with explicit orders to build a mining station there to take advantage of the spice. I undid the "auto" controls (the blue arrow thing). When it got there, some other stinkin AI race had already built a mine on my moon. I figured my construction ship would build the mine anyway, as I have plenty of planets stacked so high with ships, mines, spaceports, and what not that you can't even left click the one on bottom. My construction ship just sat near the moon and did nothing, and I noticed the orders mysteriously changed to "no orders" without any input on my part (remember I specifically removed automatic control: notice in the GiF image). I have no idea why my constructor will not build a mine on the moon to access the spice? Every other planet allows stacking of stations, even research stations built at nebulae allow many different AI players to build research stations at the same place. Why am I not able to build a mine here? The construction ship drop-down list now does not allow mining stations here only research stations; I don't understand what's going on? Of course, if I destroyed the enemy mine I'd guess the game would probably allow me to build there. But, I don't understand why I can't build there despite AI presence (and avoid the negative penalties for starting a war)?
