It is Saturday night and I am exhausted. We did 5 hours of yardwork. most of it was removing dead bamboo.

Bamboo is a "fun" plant...

I like it in the yard. We have one of the varieties that does not spread fast. This stuff had to go because it was dead.

And it's annoying, backbreaking work to lever it out of the ground.

BURN IT! BURN IT ALL!...Sorry, I'm about to do battle with a bunch of stumps in my backyard (small insidious #$$%%! that have already claimed the lives of two brand new lawn mower blades!)

Mu condolences on the blades. I know you two were close.

Yesterday afternoon I went out to buy some out door furniture.....$4000.00 later , and I wound up purchasing a piano and huge carpet......and like Steve Mcqueen in "The Sand Pebbles"....I wind up wondering "What happened? What the hell happened?!". Note to self---whenh shopping , leave spouse behind!

The piano was an impulse buy??!!??!!!

Yes, belive it or not, it was. We went in to buy my spouse sheet music, and were looking at baby grands , with the idea that when we finally stop moving, we could get one for my wife. She had a "digital piano" , in fact a glorified keyboard with 66 keys. They had something in between , a digital piano that looks and sounds like a real piano, but has a lot of the keyboard functions and options, but is a heck of a lot easier to move. They were willing to 1) accept a trade in and 2) deliver it and pick up the old one last night. After 29 years of marriage, I've learned that marital bliss is worth any price. And Spousal unit is on cloud 9.

Glad to hear. That should give you plenty of opportunity to flip some turns posthaste then, eh?

My friend Dewey Atchley's uncle Dewey died recently and we up at his place in Big Bear this weekend to finish up an inventory. We're in the garage with all the frikkin tools and a big lump of something at the back; covered with blankets and wrapped in visquine, it looked like a mini VW stuck in the corner. So we cut the covers and there, covered with 15 years of rust and grime is a serious Norton frikkin bike. We had no clue, we just saw Norton and went - hoe lee jay zus! We went and looked and it was a 1975 Norton Commando.

It was seriously ugly and grimey and Dewey didn't want to pay the freight to restore it sellability, and Dewey's wife unit is a true, it better be a Volvo, Cali girl, so Dewey says - "oh, crap, this is all I need. John, you want this thing?"

"erm, hunh?" says I, using my communication skills.

"look" says Dewey, "this things a piece of crap, and Caroline won't let me spend a penny on restoring it, and some collector yahoo will only give me a penny on the dollar and laugh at me for a fool for doing it. You want it?"

"Umm .. fuh%# .. Dewey, are you frikkin nuts !? Do you know what this is !?" my communication skills return somewhat.

"Yeah" says Dewey, "it's a piece of $hit in my uncle's garage. You want it or not?"

Communication skills fail yet again. " cough, choke, uhhh .. um .. ok."

So I got this Norton in my garage now. Had to move the Jeep to make some room. Really lookin forward to getting it fixed up and fired up. Will be thinking of big Dewey (and little Dewey) every time I ride it.

Good afternoon!

Wife and I are getting ready for Leonard Cohen concert tonight at 8 PM...

Lucky b*stard...

+1

It was very very very nice concert (10000+ attended in Arena sports dome)!

Cohen played for 3 hours (which is no small feet for a man of his 75+ years old age) and still had great voice!!!

What's the basis behind your mod? I've noticed you making a few requests in the artwork forum for stuff. I always thought you were against the what-if type scenarios that diverged too far from historical?
