My first task as a "real" employee is to document everything I do in the department, for the benefit of my boss, who has very little idea...

Organise files.
Make drinks.
Answer phones.
Plot world domination.
Training new staff members.
Direct enquiries.
Ogle nurses.

Tonight's plans include grilling some pork chops to go with some boiled new potatoes and a salad, loud music on the Bose ipod dock, an AE turn or 2 of the Downfall scenario, get a turn back to Dixie and a BTR pbem turn.

You started playing swift then? Which side are you?

We're going with chicken with potato wedges and mixed veg, apart from Josh who's got mediterranean lamb and vegetables (mostly mashed). It looks a lot like his hearty cottage pie he had yesterday.

Glastonbury is bloody expensive. I know Mrs P wants to go so i was thinking of pre-registering for tickets for 2011. The 2010 prices are £185 a pop. At least the boy gets in free because he's under 12.

He only does it once, starts when he gets to work and finishes at the end of the day So it only counts as one task.

As a nice punctuation to a nice day, I received some books I'd previously ordered today, including Bergerud's Fire in the Sky.

is it me or did the thread with the old "It's all FDRs fault" just disappear? Does that mean I won?

Nah, Simon, it's still there. It's "how to judge japan's attack...."

I'm still enjoying my tea.

It's quite amusing, yes. We'll see if he makes a comeback on your last post. Personally, I don't think he will - he's a little "too married" to the conspiration theory.

He seems to not just be married to it, he's settled down and had a family with it as well.

I labeled him as a troll as well. Then I realized that he actually believes that rubbish ...

I'm more rigid in my use of TGB. I only use it when the guy involved is seriously unpolite. Have only used it once

Edited: Since Steve edited the post I was replying too, I'm changing mine as well.

The really funny and ironic thing about it all is that the subject of Japan, the US and the PTO war is so complex that any kind of generalization will never do it justice, including the typical White hat Black hat view that prevails on boards like this. Hell....I have at least 4 good books on the subject, including one recently read, and one i'm currently reading and i'm STILL hard pressed to give a concise answer as to "how did the war start?" "who's fault was it really?" "What was Japan thinking??!!"

There's a reason why the books on the subject tend to be rather on the large size.

Well, aggressive wars tend to be launched on a not-completely-thought-through long-term plan.

Made more so by the complications of race, colonialism, differing ideologies and timing.
