As you may have heard, historians have recently uncovered that the Internet is much, much older than initially though. Apparently an ancestor of Al Gore invented the Internet in the first century BC!! Sadly, because of bit decay only few webpages from that era have survived. One page however was in rather good shape, and the historians managed to make one final screenshot before the page fell apart. It seems to be from an ancient Roman war gaming site about the Punic Wars - game title: War in the Mare Nostrum - Punic Edition. I've attached the screenshot to this post for further studies.

Isn't it astonishing how little has changed during the last 2000 years...? Even some names appear familiar...

Wow, there is too much good stuff in that ancient screenshot to mention it all, but this make me laugh out loud, " Whazzup!!! I'm back!!!!!!!!!!          markinius"

Very well done, Martin!

It's a fake!
Look at THE THREAD. The last two entries have the same number (CMXLIV). The last one should read CMXLV and the next CMXLVI).

a couple of glaring omissions:

How to judge Carthage's attack without the benefit of hindsight
The Elephantry bonus...overpowered?
When does the Carthaginian amphibious bonus end?

Great effort! +1

BTW: SuluSea, your current avatar really makes me miss my trips to Jamaica (sigh). But that's enough to give this thread an additional +2!

Actually, I owned that game. Avalon Hill put it out in board form right before introducing Tactics II. It was not a great commercial success. The rule book was written in Latin and nobody in my 2nd grade class knew Latin. I sold it on Ebay a year or two ago for $20.

Thanks, Sepia! My Latin isn't good enough to do translations, but I understand that one.

Very good!

I was looking for a thread title resembling all the Zero vs. Wildcats "discussions", but couldn't come up with an ancient equivalent for planes.
