Status: offline 		At Malaybalay, I took 238 casualties while destroying 9 allied units, inflicting 9,475 casualties. Since I need all of my troops in the coming battles, I think that I will leave the prisoners in the concentration camps run by Fletcher. I think that he will do a very good job.


I also predict that I will take Singapore by the end of the month. I already have the fort level down to 3 and I am bombing the supply away every turn.

The AVG attacked my Lillies over Hankow again, but this time I had Oscars escorting them. I lost two Lillies but shot down three P-40Es.

Status: offline 		The KB pulled away from Pearl and refueled this turn. The Kates and Vals finished off a Corvette left over from the convoy last turn, and the zero sweep over Pearl failed to encounter any opposition for the second consecutive turn.

Also, in the Coral Sea, Kaga and Akagi along with the battle line continued to sail towards the safety of Truk lagoon.

My sub based Glens have spotted several cruisers in port at Sydney. Not sure but it is possible that his carriers have put in there. I am going to recon the port again next turn.

Status: offline 		Want to know what really stinks?  Somehow my subscription for this stopped emailing me that new posts had been made.  Knowing your availability was limited this past weekend, I was not surprised to no new posts being made.  Posts that were actually being made!  The frustration! I would have enjoyed following along as this one played out. 
In this game you are using Kido Butai as a mobile force to wreak havoc rather than as a mobile force to supply supportive, projection of force. It is real interesting to follow along.

Well, it was pretty intense. Hopefully Traskott's side of the AAR documented the hunt from his side. I have no idea which way his carriers went on the turn that I made my full speed dash to the north, but it is stuff like this that makes heroes or scapegoats depending on how things turn out.

Yes, I like to use my carriers to wreak havoc and force the enemy to defend his rear areas. Japan has enough land based air power to project the support she needs during the first months of the war. I just wish that his fighters had been sucked into my two consecutive sweeps over Pearl. I wanted to reduce his P-40 stocks quite a bit. Instead he reduced my Kates. At least the losses were not critical. I have enough Kates to replace the losses as well as enough trained replacement pilots since I am already on my second wave of cadets in my training units.

The only significant thing that happened on this turn was that the AVG turned up over Hankow and shot down several of my Lillies.

Aside from that, I have developed a new synonym for my combined army twin engine bomber attacks. Since I prefer using Sallies and Lillies for the same missions, often in combination, I will call the combo "sillies". No different than Netties.

Correct usage:

I have been attacking Singapore every turn with the Sillies, trying to destroy his supply.

The DD Yudachi was torpedoed and sunk off Woodlark Island in the Coral Sea.
The enemy sent a commerce raider into the Shikuka area. This raider intercepted a convoy escorted by patrol boats and sunk three freighters before disappearing back into the mists.

Off San Diego, I-22 put two fish into the freighter San Angelo, sinking her.

I lost over 60 bombers this turn attacking Singapore. Traskott flew in a bunch of fighters where there had been none for about a month and they swarmed the incoming bombers. Losses were as follows: 19 Lilly, 19 Sally IIa, 18 Nell, 4 Betty.

The carriers Akagi and Kaga arrived at Truk this turn after their extended deployment off Australia which included their narrow escape from the entire U.S. carrier force. The ships were run hard, as you can see from the way the Akagi is smoking, and they will be going home to Kure for maintenance and upkeep. Also, just about all of the remaining airworthy Kates are pictured in the photo. Most were lost during the attack on the American carriers.

The Akagi and Kaga departed Truk for Kure.

The battleship contingent, which could not steam as fast as the carriers, is still one day out from Truk and was attacked twice by American subs.
Good thing the Americans have not yet fixed their torpedo problems as the attack on the Nagato resulted in three hits that were all duds.

Looks like Traskott is serious about stopping those Silly attacks.

Status: offline 		I think that he flew the fighters in because my silly attacks were hurting him. I take it as a good sign. I now have Nates performing low altitude sweeps in numbers every turn with Oscars and Zeroes escorting the Sillies and Netties.

My troops made an attack on Singapore, reducing the fortifications to level 2 and destroying two of the defending units. However, the odds are still 1:2 and the enemy is still supplied. We will continue the aerial bombing and artillery bombardment until we have further reduced his ability to defend the city.

At sea, the I-7 put one torpedo into the freighter Silverteak off Sydney.

I looked for images
"Akagi Japanese Carrier"
"Nagato battleship"

Xxzard is correct, the Nagato picture is indeed a picture of a very well detailed model, in this case the Mutsu.

As you have seen with my AAR, I have a policy of putting up some type of picture with just about every post. I feel that it makes the AAR more interesting with the variety.

Here is a digitally colored picture of the Nagato at anchor.

Thanks, and you are right, I did come close to getting punked. The pucker factor was pretty high there for a few turns but in the end that is what makes for a good game.

On this date the glorious forces of the Empire of Japan captured the Chinese city of Chuhsien!
The Japanese Army had 960 casualties during the assault, but enemy deaths totalled 4,188.
Banzai!

I-24 torpedoed and sank the Dutch oiler Tan 4 east of Sydney. Two torpedoes were enough to do the job.

Off the California coast, I-5 encountered an ASW task force consisting of a corvette and a minesweeper. She put one fish into the minesweeper, identified as the USS Birch, sinking her.

Status: offline 		I also wanted to show this shot of a very wierd dogfight involving floatplanes on both sides.
I had a task force of several cruisers just NE of Menado that were attacked by a flock of seagulls escorted by a herd of buffalo.
Pete and Jake attempted to slap them from the skies before they could place their droppings on the decks of our pristine ships.
Alas, my peashooters were only enough to wing a couple of the birds, but luckily the AA guns on the cruisers were able to do better by shooting down three of the offending seagulls. Rumor has it that the executive officer of the Haguro, an avid hunter, brought one of the planes down with several well placed pistol shots as it skimmed over the bridge of the cruiser at mast head height during the attack.

During this turn, I-26 shelled and sank the coastal freighter Bidelia off Brisbane. The ship was loaded with vehicles as at least 4 were spotted blown into the sea during the shelling. I-26 will continue her patrol.

Off Hawaii, RO-66 was hit by an aerial bomb dropped from an American biplane dive bomber. (I guess that means Hornet has arrived) She is attempting to return to Kwaj. 80 sys, 58 float, no fires.

Southeast of Hawaii, RO-62 torpedoes and sinks the freighter Wallingford with one solid hit.
This interception, several hexes from land, proved once again the folly of plying the common shipping lanes with freighters.
