Hi All-

I was curious if the issue WITP Tracker had where it would not run on systems with a 64-bit Windows 7 OS has been solved. I attempted to install and run tracker many months ago and ran into the issues that others had described. I attempted the fix(es) that were listed but could not get Tracker to boot, so I gave up on it rather than attempting to fight through the code and perhaps screw up my computer. Absent reading through 57 pages (1700-plus posts) on the tracker release thread, does anyone know if these issues have been addressed in the interim. I would like to begin learning the Japanese side of things but it seems to be pretty daunting and easy to screw up if you don't have Tracker running. Any updates would be appreciated.

I am running 64bit Win 7 and tracker works fine, can you describe what problems you are having? I mean is Java installed and running?

Don't know about Windows 7, but we do discuss Vista 64-bit here: http://sites.google.com/site/witptracker/support (so you don't need to look at 50+ pages of history).

Floyd is right in pointing you there just for clarity though I'll run down what I'd do...

1.Follow out installation instructions
http://sites.google.com/site/witptracker/installation
NB** Making sure to install the 32 bit versions of Java and Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1
2.Do the setup stuff but don't start the application
http://sites.google.com/site/witptracker/set-up
3.Right click and edit the witptracker.bat file
Change the batch file to:- (this should be the path to 32 bit java - might have to check it, but this is the default)
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
pause
4. # Run from the witptracker.bat file
# If you can't for some reason (e.g., 64-bit system), try one of these methods:

* Use the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cmd.exe command to start the witptracker.bat file. You can make a short-cut for this by making a copy of the witptracker.bat file and change the extension to something unused (e.g., witptracker.witp) and then associate the file (using the "Open With..." dialog) to open using SysWOW64\cmd.exe.

Or download my executable here

Other errors look at the support page Floyd mentioned ... 64 bit does work

I had to actually paste a copy of the java.exe into the directory where tracker is installed to get mine to work on a x64 system.

Yep another good way if the path to java is wrong ... thanks OSO for chipping in ...
