will not send me a message like the one you can see below after his first CV loss;
(got it this evening after one (game) month of hard work for the jap side against what seemed like a very good and stable allied player)

"I,m sorry but I surrender. Sorry for even starting this game but in my opinion it is royally screwed and doesnt work at all.
I have played many games of AE and nothing ever works for me. This latest CV encounter is just the latest in a looooooongggg line...I mean c'mon firstly AFTER spotting each other my group sends 30Fighters to cover a light cruiser when LRCAP is zero???????
Then over half my DB's decide to turn back and the grand finale of having 50 planes attack for a (as in 1) hit on the BB no less!!
I will not even discuss this in the forums as I can see the responses now..."Did you set them on LRCAP","Agressiveness of Commander""bad rolls" "weather"etc etc etc

You made the right decision to hit Pearl and leave Manila alone...it took my subs over a month to get 1 hit which when supposedly hitting 60% of the time seems extreme.

Good hit on the CA's by you so Kudos for that.

Well I was not out by any means if I could get the CV's away which are only damaged. And maybe you should fire Nagumo as he only sank 1 BB at Pearl. The rest are on the west coast.

Anyways sorry about my poor play(I hate games that penalize the player even after you micromanage all the settings correctly) and good luck"

Ouch! That really is tough. Better luck with the next game.

(I'm waiting for the next DBB release for my next PBM, no ETA on that yet.)

Are you wishing to continue with this game or start again?

Oh my. He's so disappointed isn't he?
But if you continue playing unilt 1943 and 1944 the US can bounce back.

Maybe that's the problem.  Micromanaging is good but still doesn't guarantee victory.  My philosophy in playing the game is not to micromanage as the additional effort is not justified.  It's more fun that way.

This is the problem with this game. If you cannot handle a few "unfair" losses then....

It is the beginning of Feb 42. He has ambushed my invasions a few times with his carriers. The last invasion was escorted by KB + KBII and he lost his CV´s. Fair fight with 3 US CV´s against all the japs. Then he just gave up!

At least you had only invested until Feb '42. And it was during the fun period for the Japanese.

Did he do any damage to the KB?

Was it his first PBEM? I have only played against the AI, and it always breaks up the KB, so the USN can trade CV's against vs. the Japs in Feb 42. A painful lesson. I wouldn't have given up, but I relish an underdog challenge.

No damage to KB at all. The perfect battle and it actually won me the whole war.
