I'm pitiful! I've played more games of minesweeper, hearts and solitaire this weekend than I have in my entire life! I need something else to do while waiting for my PBEM opponent's turns to arrive. Also, even though my email settings are configured to check for messages every 2 minutes, I still find myself clicking the "Send/Receive" button like a cocaine-addicted lab rat pulling down the little lever that delivers its "fix". Then I hear the bell and feel the adrenaline rush. It's here at last! No, that was the microwave, telling me my coffee is reheated. Another bell, another adrenaline rush. No, that’s the doorbell. I forgot I ordered a hoagie for delivery. A third bell, and a third conditioned response. (I think my adrenals must be close to empty by now. :D) Aha! That one came from the computer. After unzipping the game file, saving and reloading, I am reminded that today is Overcast. I click past the weather window and watch the action unfold. Drat! Two Betty's shot down by CAP in a night raid of Port Moresby. But I finally paste that da**ed sub patrolling my harbor at Lunga with 4 depth charges! And sweet! I nail another one of those S-boats with a mine as it tries to enter Noumea! :p This game, which is fantastic when played against the AI, is even better when played against a human opponent. For anyone out there who has never played UV by email I have two words - Do It. Check the "Opponents Wanted" section of the forum and give it a try. You'll be glad you did. I myself never played a single computer game against a human opponent until this weekend. (And I've been playing for 10+ years.) Now, I find it difficult to continue those saved games I started against the AI!
