How do you upgrade or replace a Small Space Port at a colony with a medium space port?

You can select them in space and right-click on them to retrofit them to a larger form. Only stations above planets can be retrofitted.

I don't seem to get that option. Now the SSP and colony is at a moon and not a planet. However, I seem to be able to build a Medium Space Station at a moon for a new colony at a moon .... at least I get the option to.

I was also curious why some colonies can build a colony ship at their world and some can't. I surmize this has to do with population...?

You need to right click it, choose 'Retrofit' and you should be able to choose from a list of available types.

Keep in mind its image won't actually change though, something I would actually like implemented, the medium and small spaceports can look stretched and blurry when they get bigger.

Also, there are several places you try to "retrofit", but only in the map screen using right-click is it possible to retrofit to a different design. If you try in the ship/base overview you are only allowed to upgrade to a newer version of the same design (not that you can technically make a small space-port that is larger than a medium, but still).

Yes....the planet needs to have 100 million population to build a colony ship (which loads 10 million
population upon completion of build)

The Tech Support forum disappeared for 3 days, I think anyone who had a post there got the Legion of Merit title.

Well with retrofitting the Small Spaceport to the Medium Spaceport originated somewhere between the monitor and the back of the chair..... I guess you need to actaully be clicking on the spaceport and not on the planet .....

Are you sure the population is actually loaded onto the ship? It feels like it fakes an infinite amount of time to get to 100million, but once there it is no problem to build as many colony ships as you can, and the population never drops back under 100million. I am pretty much assuming the 10million that ends up on the new planet are pulled out out of thin ari.
