Yes, I think a little peak at what's in store and maybe a rough timeframe? Pretty please?

I thought they said it was going to be around Christmas time in an earlier post somewhere.

You could be correct, although I don't remember reading that. It's not so far off really, but I thought it would be sooner.

I guess I'd rather they took their time and added more features, than rush things and not give us enough new goodies to play with.

Ahhh, this is what I was thinking.

Christmas would fit well with their end of year statement

Hi guys,

Yes, the 1.0.6.0 Beta became 1.0.6.0 Official, no further changes.

We ran out of time for the galactopedia update in this release, we will aim to get that into the next update.  It proved to be a bigger job than expected.

More news on the expansion will be available when it's a bit further along, but the goal is to have it done before the end of this year.

Regards,

- Erik

Now we can all debate the meaning of 'very soon' while we wait.

Good to know that work continues.

There's no need for a debate, he obviously means within the next 2 - 10 weeks.

As long as they don't start using "When its done" like some first person shooter creators once did...

Now, releasing a game before Christmas sound like a swell idea, but I'd rather wait 'til January than see the product's quality suffer.
Also, remember we're not talking about a mainstream PS3/Wii/Xbox 360 game, but a relatively niche PC 4X game.

Dude, i'm so curious as to what the expansion will contain.. In most games its predictable stuff like, a new civ for civ5 (prediction!), some new units and buildings (rts games), some new weapons etc.
But Distant Worlds is such a unique game, unlike any other. I cant even imagine what you'd add.. And i dont dare speculate because i dont want to get dissapointed by too high hopes XD

Well, i will say that if it's just a few new races, then yes i will get dissapointed XD
But i very much doubt that would be called an expansion :)
What devilish gameplay features do you have planned??

But then we might as well wait til february, or march, or april, or next year's winter :P
If its ready for release in winter, i say release it in winter. If its fun and an IMPROVEMENT upon the base game, i can deal with a few bugs as long as they keep patching it.

Of course technically winter doesn't start until December 21st...
