T17 losses. I think AFV losses are about 75% of initial strength.

T17 production. About 100 less MkIII and MkIV than losses and about 150 less stugs than losses. I must minimise AFV losses during the Blizzard.

You should check your units ammo and see if it was particularly low in those attacks. In my RtL game I noticed my armor was getting very low on ammo and as they got low, they had a much harder time. I think they resorted to throwing rocks a few times and that explained some dismal attacks. This is something I never noticed before, I think partially due to supply bugs and partially due to the fact that a few months ago Gary made ammo more important. I found I couldn't just airdrop fuel to the Panzers and expect that they could keep attacking whenever I wanted them to as long as they had MPs. Forts are somewhat tougher, bad terrain is definitely tougher on armored vehicles, but I think ammo is also important now.

Joel,
Based on above, was thinking of adding following to section on ammunition:

quote:

Combat units with a low ammunition percentage will suffer a significant decline in combat effectiveness during battle, especially when attacking.

Let me know if addition is appropriate and if so, any changes I would need to make.

Thanks,
Al

Looks like you have done pretty well as the attacker. The few turns of snow will give you a chance to take Moscow, which you should be able to. Even in mud though you can conduct some attacks, just not very far, so maybe a few infantry assaults onto the city may take it even sooner.

Sure, I think that's a fair thing to say.

Start of turn 18 - first turn of mud. This illustrates why I love this game so much. The fact that there are consequences to everything you do or don't do. The first 2 turns of chasing Trey around pockets meant I could not get my rails constructed, so 16 turns later Army Group South gets totally isolated.

Cool!

You do know that if he attacks any of those red bordered units that they can surrender...not likely..but it is possible.

T22 Panzer Group 2 very nearly closes a pocket in front of Voronezh and I've left some SS regiments exposed- too tempting a target for Trey no doubt.

T22 I decide to burn 5k trucks and reduce my supply capacity to use HQ Buildup for the first time on 2 Panzer corps. I hope it was worth it as I got a pretty strong pocket around the Donbas cities.

T22. Rumanian Mountain troops arrive to support the attack on Sevastopol and the guard the coast against any amphibious operations Trey might try - it looks like something might be hiding in Yalta.

End T23. I haven't come this far to not get my souvenir Vodka and Matryoska Dolls, so I wreck another 10k trucks to use HQ Buildup on 3 Panzer corps, in the hope that I can make 2 deliberate attacks on Moscow next turn. I hate going head on, but I can't out flank the city.

End of T23. I know it's really cheesy, but Trey did put the Para's in so I felt I ought to use them. Now I just need the cavalry to come and rescue them!

T23. Using refit to get units up to strength before the Blizzard. More generals takin one for the team, and so far I have not seen any promotions, and just one ratings increase and that was political.

T23 OOB. Trey has more tanks than me - not fair. The Aircraft pool bug has deprived me over over 300 aircraft, but I not complaining - it's only a game.

T24 starts with the first promotion in 24 Turns hopefully the Luftwaffe will do a good job for me this turn to celebrate.

T 24. I ask the luftwaffe to throw everything they have at Moscow, and this is the result. I hope there is a lot of disruption that I can't see!

T24 I throw 9 fully supplied Divisions in a frontal assault on the Moscow suburbs. I was expecting to lose a lot more tanks.

I have enough MPs to try for the Hvy Urban hex of Moscow so I kick off another "all out effort" from the luftwaffe - I think they were celebrating the appointment of their new field marshal.

T24 Moscow: I managed 3 attacks, and these were the best odds I could get - grateful for the low tank losses:

T24. I couldn't isolate the pocket in front of Voronezh but I did rout everything, to at least weaken them for a couple of turns.

T24 one of my major objectives was to prove to myself that Rostov can be captured by December 1st, but it took a cheesy paradrop to do it. My forces are badly exposed and I hope I don't lose them just to prove a point.
