Tithe...

Since the forum was offline yesterday, most threads aren't marked as read after I scrolled through them. Am I the only one?

These two ladies shouldn't be left at the bottom of page 120...

Two more to keep everyone in line.

The Bright Blue Death by Nicholas Brown, published in US in 1967 and and UK in 1967
They call themselves the Teutonic Knights, they are led by a half-mad genius with dreams of ruling the world. The first step has already been taken, Selected victims are being murdered by a hideous disease. Our heroes job is to destroy their plan with the help of two women, one a headstrong Swede and a treacherous American.

Macao by Manning Lee Stokes, published in US in 1968 and UK in 1968
Princess Morgan de Gama is an addict, a whore, and a deadbeat. As the story begins, a film of her sexual exploits is being auctioned off to three international buyers. The Portuguese government would like her locked in an asylum. Meanwhile, an Angolan rebel needs her to keep an old French general in his service, and has told the Red Chinese that acquiring her is a part of any deal they may want to make with the rebellion. David Hawk, head of AXE, has a plan to use her to eliminate the head of Chinese counterintelligence. He sends Nick Carter with her to Hong Kong, and from there to Macao, knowing that Colonel Chun Li would have a trap ready for them. The two do end up in the trap, and face a sticky end chained up in a dungeon with mutant killer rats. However, in the end, Colonel Li is killed, the Angolan rebel leads his forces to the rescue, and the Princess ends up marrying the head rebel, Prince Askari.

Oh, I've seen worse traffic elsewhere, dude. Trust me. But I didn't grow up driving in it. Did you cut your driver's ed teeth in Nigerian traffic? I didn't either, but I'm lead to believe that that's the world's worst.

I can vouch for the heinousness of African traffic.

I've not seen African roads first hand, but I've been outside the wire in the Mid-East. Those people are mental, we were in the outside lane overtaking traffic, there was a car overtaking us half on the road and someone trying to squeeze between him and the crash barrier

Imagine all that plus the addition of livestock and you have African traffic.

Not really a traffic story but . . . . one of my first memories as a child was of travelling in a car in Taipei when my dad was in VN. I was about 3 or so. I distinctly remember seeing live chickens bouncing off of our windshield most everytime we went 'down the mountain' into town. Up on the hill was were all the foreign nationals lived. Found out much later that the Taiwanese would wait for a foreigner driving a car to launch their old chickens at it and claim that we killed it. It always turned out to be a prize winning egg layer that was priceless and couldn't be replaced , that is until the MPs showed up and wrote out checks for it. Great scam.

I've never been able to watch the Birds in its entirety.

Non-existent. We use high speed rail for getting to and fro on-planet.

If I knew what that was, I'd tell ya.

Africa was the only place I've ever seen that gave incoming traffic the right-of-way at a roundabout.

"Right of way" at an African roundabout? Isn't that just a suggestion? Like anyone would actually follow such a contrived and set right of way on African roads...

Well....size does trump right-of-way, to be sure.

Let's see...size, velocity, insane quotient of driver, khat serologic concentration, perceived tardiness, perceived importance of driver, whether the brakes are working, etc. etc. What the LAW says? That's likely down on criterion #48.

Princess Morgan de Gama. Reads like waste of talent to put her in the asylum!

Back at work after going with my wife to buy our second Porsche over lunch - Tithe.

2009 Cayenne with only 8100 miles on it.  Perfect hockey trip transportation.

A porsche for hockey?

You've never heard of "street hockey?"

How big is the puck?

A kid on a Vespa or a Mo-ped.

Spoken like a true American SUV driver. And that coming from a triathlete as well...

Brad, I'm the (not for a few years but really want to again) triathlete.

The Cayenne has a trailer hitch, just waiting for a bike rack to be plugged into it.

Oops! I guess that it was because you had started the thread and were buying the SUV that I attributed Steve's comment to you. My apologies...

I'm the cyclist who gets cussed out by other cyclists when I try to remind them that we have to follow the rules of the road just like we expect the drivers to do...

Then you have MY support. The ones I can't stand say "I have ALL the rights of a motor vehicle" then proceed to ignore all the responsibilites and requirements. Especially little things . Like traffic laws.

Nope, Sara took it to work tonight. I haven't driven it yet.

Alex and I are taking it to Maryland for a hockey weekend Saturday morning. It was nice enough today that we took the "old" Porsche and put the top down.

Home from the rink, my belly is full, enjoying the sweet taste of my first sip of rum, and it's time to start the NHL season (via DVR).

See you fellas in about 2 hours.
