Just to put things in perspective.

Tonight after 69 day buried over 650 meters underground, the 33 miners of SAN JOSE Mine near Copiapo in my country CHILE, will start they ascension to the surface.

Our country just survived the 5th more destructive earthquake in recorded history and 4 months after was struck by this new tragedy, but we are overcoming all these and together we are facing this wonderful moment.

I just wrote this as an homage to those 33 courageous men.

This is a re-birth for the miners, and a great joy for everyone watching. My best wishes to the rescuers and their equipment.

I'm going to break my normal lurk/silence to add my prayers for the miners. I have been following this story since the earthquake and my prayers go out to the miners, their families and the people of Chile.

Best regards,

W2K

I remember when this started way back in August, told myself to remember those guys 700 feet under everyday since then, didn't always think of them on a daily basis but they were never far from the mind, it boggles the mind whenever I think about the unique situation they're in, to be in that confined space for so long without access to natural light, the physiological/psychological aspects of their experience will fill entire library shelves, can't wait to read their AAR.

Live updates from the site, first rescuer down the shaft as I type this.

The whole world is pulling for them. May they all get to the top safely.

I recently toured a mine in Mexico as part of a work conference. That definitely made me think of the miners.

And the Chileans made a wonderful collective effort on this one. I heard the capsule used to haul them up was designed by Chilean Navy engineers? And NASA got in to help after a request from the Chilean government?

Excellent job to all of you. I'm following this on the Net and on radio. My prayers are with you all.

I just want to thank the kind support.

About the capsule, yes it was designed and built by ASMAR, our navy shipyards, also belongs to the navy two of the rescuers who descended to help the miners, one is a “Buzo Tactico” (Chilean SEAL) and the other is a “Comando” (Marine Special force) , both of them trained paramedics. So yes, our Navy is quite involved in the rescue.

Up is coming the 7th .

VIVA CHILE MIERDA! (In our country it has to be cheered this way, as you probably watched our president say)

Yes congratulations on a successful rescue.

My sympathies go now to the last rescuer who has to wait for his ride back up, all alone down there in a spooky, empty cavern. Don't forget to turn off the lights.

I feel bad for the miner with the wife and girlfriend, apparently the girlfriend showed up when he was being rescued, think he wished he was the last miner pulled out!

I am glad there is still humanity left in this world to not give up.

I just wanted to close this chapter to newly thank all the support and cheering, and transmit the happiness of the whole 17 millions Chileans.

What a Year we are having! earthquake, tsunami, having 200 years of independent life, and finally this miraculous rescue… Gee I’m proud of being Chilean right now.

Now that the 33 miners and 4 rescuers are back, I can start enjoying our beloved game again.

As I said before: VIVA CHILE M…….A!

Maglio,

You have every reason to be proud -- and believe me, the whole world was watching. Last night, all the cable news channels interrupted normal schedules to run live coverage of the rescue.

I will also note, the women of Chile must be very forgiving. If I had been the guy with the wife and girlfriend waiting, I am quite sure one of them would have poured concrete into the rescue shaft. :-)

Regards,
Feltan
