Any suggestions, hints, tips for the learning curve aspect (and no, Simon, "dont get your CVs sunk" is not what I meant )?

Don't get your non-CV ships sunk.

It works!!!!!!!!

I think it just installed in a funky manner the first time around. I havent the energy to launch into a campaign now, but I did get a first look.

1) The off-map stuff will take some getting used to.
2) The 5000 new classes of ships will definitely take a lot of getting used to.
3) I think most of the stuff still works the same way, so thats good for sanity.
4) I discovered about 20 menu options that were not there in the original. I think I'll have to read up on this stuff.

Any suggestions, hints, tips for the learning curve aspect (and no, Simon, "dont get your CVs sunk" is not what I meant )?

Hi Onime,

I strongly recommend playing me in a PBEM while you're getting used to the rules. Complete campaign? I'm flexible on house rules. Ready to begin?

Hey, you stole my line!

Preserve your LCUs while gobbling up as much land as you can.

Don't bollox up the home islands production system if you're playing the IJ. Produce just enough airplanes, engines, armaments and tanks to see you through to 3/46 and you'll do fine.

Oh, don't produce too much though.

Stop production on some of your ships, but not all of them. Some of them you'll want to accelerate, but others stink and you'll want to halt those.

You may want to consider increasing your HI. Or not. You may want to shut off your LI or HI to conserve resources. Of course, this will impact your supply, so you may not want to do that either.

When you've captured new production, repair some of the stuff there, but don't repair other stuff. That would be silly.

Piece of cake.

Yes, yes, the Shinano is a waste of resources, the Bismark was scuttled and the Sherman as the greatest tank of WW2.

It's good to be a Rangers fan today . . . one of the few times I can remember saying that in their 38 year stay in the area. A shame to break a streak of never having won a playoff series but sometimes it just has to be done.

I went to game 3 of the TB series. The Rangers lost. My friend got tickets for game 2 of the Evil Empire series but I declined to go. I'm not overly superstitious but it's bad juju all the same to go when you're on a personal losing streak.

Yeah, that's right. Congrats on the historical playoff win, dude! Please defeat the Evil Empire.

Thanks, hope it happens.

Never having it happen before, my brother, neighbor and I just kind of stared at each other after the final out. Didn't know really what to do. Then apparently we became thirsty. Was feeling a little peaked this morning.

I hear the team 'celebrated' with Ginger Ale. Wouldn't want to use Champagne (or 'sparkling wine, method champagnois ) around anyone that may have a chemical dependency issue, after all. Since when did a TEXAS team become so darn PC? I would have expected that from the Giants, but Texas?

So, anarchintheuk, did you and your friends / family drink GINGER ALE in honor of the festivities?

I thought this was a very respectful celebration deviation with respect for a team mate as opposed to a public stand. I guess I see how it could be interpreted as political correctness. But the whole Josh Hamilton problem was just too fresh to ignore, I think.

Maybe that's my misunderstanding the whole "Josh Hamilton" problem. I confess that I'm unaware of the details here...can you summarize?

They celebrated w/ ginger ale, then when Hamilton left and did interviews they brought out the bubbly. Hamilton is a former/current cokehead/alcoholic.

I don't know all the details, but JH struggled for years with alcohol and drug addictions, to the point that his entry into Major League Baseball almost didn't happen. He got straightened out for at least three years, during which time he became known as one of the top hitters in the league.

At some point this year, he started drinking again and had to begin the whole sobrity process over again. So out of respect for his tenuous condition, the Rangers had a dry celebration in the locker room so that Josh could participate. I'm sure later on last night, many players found their way to an adult beverage.
