I'm making a scenario and I'm not afraid to admit that I'll probably make an AAR of it. So I guess this is the AAR of the scenario making progress.

The first thing I will say is that it's very time consuming. But not for the reasons you think....

I'm persevering through sheer force of will today. I'm doing my research for this as I make each side and I've lost count of the number of times I've had to recreate the map and replant the units in the scenario. I can't really describe how much of a pain in the ass that is. Perhaps a way to expand or contract the map without losing all that work is in order.

Of course, I could just do my research first....

Map issues aside, the hardest thing so far is determining just what radars were used by the various sides, especially the NATO NADGE sets for the mid 1980's. I spent all of yesterday looking for that information and only came up with it this afternoon.

We're set in the Med. This came about only after much contemplation about trying to find an area that would be relatively 'quiet' with a Third World War happening. I've decided to use second rate platforms because I know the most about those systems.
