can you please tell me how you bail out of a tank once it gets immobilized/damaged?

Hitting the "9" key bails the crew. Make sure you read the manual, or use the search feature in Adobe Acrobat. I searched for "bail" and found it easily. Don

Just make sure you use the "9" key and not the "F9" key - as F9 is your attempt/offer to surrender (which you can confirm or deny - but at least you'll know that you pressed the wrong key rather than have something wrong with your game).

Why do you want them to bail? Even if the tank is damaged/immo it is for good use if it's machine/main-gun still works. It's great pillbox. And if it is so badly damaged that it can't shoot, keep men inside in cover, put fire-range for zero and waite 'till they have fixed machine/main-gun. Then you can use it as FO or you can watch them making heroic fight against enemy. Most of the cases crew will die, but they'll sure do it if bailed out without asking them first. mosh http://www.skukko.com

Image if you can: You're playing WB's U2R, your M4a3(76) which has managed to accumulate 41 kills finds itself on a hill 15-20 height with the German forces likely to pass across your field of view as they approach a victory hex (distance 2-4 hexes as they cross). As you moved into position a previously unseen flak 18 (88mm/L56) opens fire from <6 hexes and hits you. With the angle induced by the height difference the chances are low that penetration will occur (it lasted about 4 turns even side on - 15-20 hits - before I could destroy the 88 with artillery). The only target is a dug in flak 18 which will eventually kill the vehicle and possible much or ALL of the crew. By bailing out the vehicle ceases to be an eligible target and if you can get the crew away from the vehicle then you save your hero. Possibly returning to the vehicle after the threat (88mm) has been delt with. p.s. at least 76mm and 1 x 30 cal still worked afterwards. NB: by "9"ing the crew get out with little suppression and can move away from the vehicle, if they are forced to bail out they usually have high suppression and hang around the vehicle as a target - i.e., they tend to all be killed. Thanks all. It hurts when your most experienced tank crew stay in their tank in a game that you need to exit the map only to get taken out by a tiger. I would rather have had them bail and catch a lift with another unit ------------------ Is attack the best form of defence?

Interesting you should ask. Recently while playing the Heroes of the Motherland campaign, there was a battle in which I hit the German target, then had to pull everybody out. More guys out, more points. First time ever, I bailed the crew out of an immobilized tank and got the points for their leaving the map.
