If you put I. Dunn Cheatham, Esq on a retainer, he won't be able to act against you.

Yes, ethically, he wouldn't be permitted, would he? That would be money well spent.

Mr. Cheatham reminds me of the guy who represented Stalker Girl in our prenup "negotiations". I found my guy on the Web but then I find out she needs to be individually represented. So I ask our corporate lawyer for a recomendation and he gives me the name of the 70 year old former beachmaster who is bitter about his own divorce and thinks he is Clarence Darrow. The guy initially expresses some concern about conflict of interest but when she agree to pay him $350 and hour he gets over it real fast. What an A-hole. I've seen junk yard dogs with more personality. He gets on this kick that I am going to pay HIS fee...not bloody likely pal...I can see where THAT is going. we would still be on the dance floor.

I am pretty sure his mom wanted him to be a gynecologist.

An espresso would make much more sense in the cramped confines on a submarine.

Matroos der 2de Klasse Van Meter rushes into the forward torpedo room with the Captain's favorite mug. He lifts the mug (already 1/2 filled with a triple shot of espresso and milk) toward a brass valve on torpedo tube #4. He turns the valve 1/4 turn and pressurized steam begins to bubble into mug. There is a hint of solvent, yes, but also the wonderful smell of steamed milk and strong coffee.........*

* If you are struck with the notion that every Dutch enlisted man or officer below the rank of Lt. Cmdr in this story is either called Van Meter or Van Dyke, it is only a few neurons paying a trick on you. Pay no attention to it.

Islands sized 1 and 2? Are you referring to total port and AF build size? or basic port and AF potential?

1) All Atolls (regardless of size).

2) All islands size 1 and 2 (regardless of Atoll versus other terrain type).

Island size 1 = capacity 6,000
Island size 2 = capacity 30,000 (IIRC, but I'm sure it's in the manual)

I am feeling that familiar pulsatile headache feeling when AE minutiae are discussed. Do you mean to say there are atolls that can hold more than 6000?

No.

The previous, and now established to be mistaken, general view that an anto shock attack only occured on atolls. The correct position is that it occurs on islands sized 1 or 2. It just so happens that atolls are found only on size 1.

Yes, I stand corrected. But I have never viewed Christmas Is. to be a true atoll. In the game it is unlimited troop capacity and therefore not a size 1 or 2. There ought to be no auto shock attack there.

Wait a minute..are you guys sayings Atolls don't matter Atall?

What really matters is the troop capacity listed for the island?

No. All Atolls get a shock attack. Plus, all non-atoll islands that are size 1 or 2 get a shock attack.

Grab BFH from toolbox. Apply to big toe. The pulsations will disappear.

This is beginning to make some sense. Christmas Is (Kiribati), for eg., is a substantial island in terms of surface area but it would still offer no unopposed landing area even with a few hundred defenders, so it would make sense to insist upon the shock attack rule even for a big atoll.

Cap Mandrake,

I apologise - not one of my finest days.

Although this thread is not the original thread, it does deal with the island size auto shock attack.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2570575&mpage=1&key=atoll%2Cshock

In summary, you experience an auto shock attack if either of these conditions exist:

(a) island is atoll (troop capacity is irrlevant) or

(b) island is not an atoll and for troop stacking calculation, is size 1 or 2 (ie troop capacity is 6k or 30k)

Not that I've been sued for malpractice (yet!), but I'd take DC&H as my defense team anytime! (I think NORCAL already has them signed up.)

Those guys know how to negotiate---I. D. C. reminds me of Uncle Billy Sherman when he was negotiating the surrender of Atlanta with the mayor who just had to keep holding out for a bit more...

I bet that when the 33rd gets cleared for assignment to SEAC, it is also announced that Buckingham Palace is a new Condo Conversion project owned by M&M Enterprises' Real Estate Development Division...

<puts on grammar police hat...hey - chicks dig them> "for eg" = redundant <takes off grammar police hat>

so the island size is a sort of atoll gate for shock attacks...check...

<puts on grammar police conter-battery hat> I think you put on the Grammar Police/OCD hat.

It would be my contention, personally, that "for eg.", as an example, would only be redundant if it were clear to both speaker and reader that Kiribati, as an example, were one in a list of many examples of big atolls, so to speak.

By the way, for eg., your digressions are taking a heavy atoll on the narrative.

Do you really think it prudent to give that kind of specificity? After all, what if that annoying LYB Nagumo is in the Indian Ocean? Of course, this could be a fiendishly clever MI5 disimformation operation, in which case, you would probably reply something like. "we aren't afraid of that little midget Nagumo and his bamboo airplanes".
