With the damage to Saratoga I may have to mix up my operations and go to SWPAC before I finish off the CENTPAC portions of the offensive - considering my options now

Hm, I think you should stay watchful in the CENTPAC. PzB is just the guy to try to retake Palmyra when your carriers have left. Palmyra will be somewhat isolated without carrier support and you can't leave your whole assault force as a garrison there (overstacking). Taking just one island in the Line Islands just isn't enough, you'll need mutual supporting bases (airfields) until PzB has lost his offensive capacities.

Just my two cents!

I am using only AK's and LST'/LCI's and they are always well covered by CA's and BB's - I dont take that kind of risk and I dont use xAK's for amphib assaults

What about APAs ???

I was also disappointed by my Spits in my PBEM that went to 44. Finally, I parked them.

Interesting turns.

Palmyra is now cut off with 3rd Marine Div on it.

However my carriers have now refreshed and are en route...

Japanese launched an attack on my line between Burma and Assam quite happy with this it takes a lot of firepower into the middle of nowhere

In the next three months I get 3 more CVE's, 1 CV and probably Saratoga back so I can add 270 aircraft to my ORBAT over next 3 months so I must be cautious I also get to convert 260 ish Wildcats to Hellcats so I need to be seriously carefull.

No NEED to rush !!!

Also he cannot have enough fuel to keep his entire fleet manouvering this far forward so I dont need to go toe to toe he must have fuel convoys at sea I am close to the largest naval base in the Pacific with 2m fuel and plenty of replacemen t aircraft he is at the arse end of nowehere all I need to be is patient...

<I am telling myself to wait more than everyone else...>

A decisive cvarrier battle would be fun but I DONT need a decisive carrier fight now I need to wait for a decisive edge then engage KB he needs to force the decision now before Hellcats arrive

Stategically I have made a rather bad mistake.

I am presently weaker because I dont trust my carriers to get it done v KB and what do I go and do set up a SEQUENTIAL assault on PZB that depends on carriers for its first attack.

SWPAC has supply air force and troops but no significant naval assets, likewise SEAC I have overconcentrated my assets as the weaker side and gotten myself into a postiton where it actually does make sense to delay a few weeks.

Need to keep the pressure up and keep him manouvering

Lady Lex took a torpedo from subs - BOLLOCKS

This means I am down to 4 operational USN carriers - I no longer have any kind of edge I now have no choice but to be patient and wait for the Eastern Fleet to arrive in theatre as reinforcements

Not a lot more to say on current turns my Subs are hitting lots but the duds make them less than usefull.

Carriers are back at Pearl and both Sara and lady Lex are heading for dry dock

I no longer have the strength to win a carrier engagement - ergo patience is the order of the day....

The ****up fairy has struck again.

I was carelss and left Illustrious, Formidable and Victorious on upgrade on and sure enough they have begun the upgrade cycle...

grrrr

That takes 3 CV's out of the game for 75 days when added to the two heading for west coast drydocks I have 5 fleet CV's out of commssion.

When they return they are a lot meaner with a capacity of 54 and a 1400 ish AA rating but still I really didnt need that right now...

maybe its a sign so I think the decision has been made for me.

I have 6 CVE's plus Long Island (c200 aircraft)

4 Fleet CV's (3 USN and 1 RN) (c300 aircraft)

plus HMS Hermes with 20 aircraft.

So max 500 I aint taking on KB and the Line Islands with that....

In 90 days I will get 2 USN CV's back from drydock (180)
3 RN CV's now (160)
Essex and 3 new CVE's (180)

i.e. inside 90 days my carrier strength doubles and most of my USN Sqns will be in Hellcats....

Hate to say it but I need to wait marshall my strength and postpone CENTPAC for 90 days.

and I hate waiting....

The taps really open then in June and July 43 I recieve 3 Essex class CV's, 3 CVL's and 2 more CVE's so another 420 aircraft.

i.e. from June I start to outrip KB by an order of magnitude.

So an early carrier fight at probably 7:5 odds against me is not worth it so I will sit tight and wait...

Well, more time to prepar the assault. Besides you don't need to hurry. Better slow and safe. Losing now a CV or a Division will push your campaign back more than 90 dayas
