My first post after a couple of months of anonymous playing of UV. Magnificent game!

I'm playing 17 as the US against the AI, version 1.30. I've had two cases of whole squadrons disappearing. Early on (using v1.20) the A-24 squadron after getting beat up was tranferring back to Cairns for recovery. None of the 5 planes left in it were ever seen again.

Now, with 1.30, a squadron of Avangers embarked on Long Islad is gone. No combat, just transport from Nounea to Brisbane. It was just not there when I went to fly it off to it's new base. Nor anywhere else including the sqadron listings.

Any one seen anything like this?

Bill

Yes. That is a thing from the original version like the CS: convoy bug which has never been addressed. I think if you avoid putting squadrons > 17 planes on the Long Island, they won't disappear. How many planes were in the squadron you attempted to transfer? If more than 17, try sailing to Brisbane, and see if you can unload them.

Only thing that comes close is I used the long island to transfer a squadron of F4Fs back to Noumea to put back on the USS Lexington, as she had "left them" in Australia earlier.

I wen to rebase them back to the Lexington and they had already done so as soon as they got inside ferry range, as I found them sitting on the Lady Lex.

Yes, Rowlf, they did. The 8th BS is now A-20's. In previous games the a-24's were still flying in late '43. This time they upgraded about July 42.

One mystery solved.
Thanks
Bill

There were 14 planes in the squadron, so that's not likely the problem. Also I have several times in this game transported 24 plane P-40 squadrons- loaded in Brisbane and flown off near Lunga. The only difference this time was the Avengers were flown on with the carrier at sea.

Well, the bug was reported several times, and it seemed that only larger squadrons were missing, but apparently any squadron can end up missing. I believe LI was always at sea when they disappeared, but it never happened to me. I always sent small squadrons, since no one had yet reported them missing.
