Good Saturday morning tithe...

My son is up watching cartoons. I'm going to make our breakfast-a 'man's meal' of bacon, eggs and toast. Wife and daughter still asleep, but probably up soon.

First snow of the year outside. Still warm enough that it's not sticking (yet) to the roads, but pretty blanket of white over foliage and yard.

Up at 3:30am due to time changeover. It's OK-I went to bed at 7pm and slept through. Good start-I'll 'advance' this clock by 1-2 hourse a day until back at normal. Usually it's 3-4 days for a full 12 hour time difference reset.

Got the 2x2 PBEM turn done and 'dropped'.

Life is good...

Tired on a Friday night.  Methinks I will be hitting the rack early tonight.

Lemme guess. Hockey tomorrow?

Good guess.

First game is at 0930, and the second game is at 1500. Team lunch and tailgating in between.

Well, hockey dad, you should have a turn in the drop box later this morning...

5-1 win in the bag, lunch already in the belly, and the kids are doing some dry land power play walk through before the second game. Oh, and I have a turn, too.

6-12" of wet, concrete-like snow here today. Had to go out and shovel the drive / blow out the driveway and knock some of the wet stuff off of a couple trees so's they don't break.

One of our neighbors just moved here from Chandler, AZ (Phoenix). I saw the hash he did of shoveling his driveway where the plow deposited the road clearance materials. I went over there to (nicely) suggest that they may want to get that out before it turns to concrete overnight. Alas, they weren't home.

I know, I know, a really nice neighbor would shovel it for them. Foxtrot that noise. They've got two teenage boys-I figure that's their lot in life. Builds character and all that.

Arizona? Really? That's like orchids in Alaska. They will die soon. Be kind to them while they are alive.

Morning tithe... turn in the inbox, coffee in the hand, isn't life great.

Weather is a bit weird though, as it is early summer here, and the temperature range is normally between 20-27C. It is now 1100 in the morning, and it is 32C on the sunny-side of the house already!

Second game was also a great success/ugly for the other team.  13-0 win and everyone on our team now has at least one goal, except the two goalies.

Turn waiting for me to play and a Hurricanes hockey game recording on the DVR for after the turn.  I'm getting very addicted to the DVR.  I now regularly start watching games around 30 minutes after they start, so I can skip all the commercials.

Smart move... that way next time they'll know better. If you had just shoveled for them they would not have learned why you need to do it.

Medical Office in Mesa, AZ, USA

Customer: “I need to get an appointment for my son right away!”

Me: “Okay, has he seen the doctor before?”

Customer: “No. He had an appointment but he missed it.”

(I get the patient’s name and check him in the computer. He missed a consult appointment on 8/10 and didn’t call to cancel. He simply didn’t show up. It is now 9/27.)

Me: “Okay, our next available appointment is October 22nd.”

Customer: “That’s not soon enough! Don’t you have anything sooner?”

Me: “That’s our next available routine appointment. If you want to have his primary care physician call and speak with our doctor, we may be able to move it up, but right now I can’t put him in our emergency slots.”

Customer: “Why not?”

Me: “It’s our policy not to give out emergency slots to patients who have previously no-showed appointments.”

Customer: “What if it’s an emergency?”

Me: “Given that his original appointment that you missed was six weeks ago, I find that unlikely.”

Customer: “He’s got hormones in his brain!”

*long awkward silence*

Me: “He’s a teenage boy, right?”

Customer: “It’s an emergency!”
