Group patrol altitude is 36750 , scrambling fighters to 36000. Raid is overhead have moved all available P-38G and H into the area together with all heavy bombers assigned to the South West Pacific to attack Truk today... we have built up Kavieng to a level 9 airfield so no stacking limits there and the island West of it (Manus?) is a level 6. Have ordered 5 P-38 squadrons to sweep followed by nearly 200 heavy bombers to attack the airfield... thanks to the ridicoulos "coordination routine" we start off with the usual BS, the fighter squadrons are coming in alone, while not even able to fly together in full strenght but only at 2/3 of their total numbers... this is so stupid, it really must hurt if that´s "your baby"... for sure noone can argue that this is somewhat realistic, it just isn´t... it´s total BS! Now this is the situation WITHOUT working land based radar, now imagine what happens if the patch is out and you then see three or four times the numbers of fighters in the air... OMG this is so stupid... so due to a bug we are lucky to only meet 79 fighters in the air (some 150-200 expected at the base) but 79 vs 18 of course is absolutely bad news for our Lightnings... THANK you for this stupid design that sends 2/3 of each squadron in alone... THANK you very much! After a short initial dive when the P-38 took out some enemy fighters, the P-38 were shred... this squadron lost more than a dozen aircraft... oh well, who cares, a design that is bullocks but a replacement rate that gives the Allied realistic and accurate replacements... works very well indeed... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Truk , at 112,108 Weather in hex: Thunderstorms Raid spotted at 39 NM, estimated altitude 12,000 feet. You set 5 squadrons to sweep and get something like 5-10 single sweeps... this P-38 had more luck, having the dive going on for longer, mostly suffering damaged aircraft... didn´t help in the end, the numerical superiority of the enemy was too much again, losing many fighters to damage and long range... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Truk , at 112,108 Weather in hex: Thunderstorms Raid spotted at 20 NM, estimated altitude 40,000 feet. The strato sweep in this case did it´s own, the 22 P-38 had the never ending dive, immediately shown in the kills and losses, probably also due to the enemy numbers decreasing now... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Truk , at 112,108 Weather in hex: Thunderstorms Raid spotted at 36 NM, estimated altitude 42,000 feet. Group patrol altitude is 36750 Raid is overhead sweep number FIVE! As you can see, the P-38H squadrons from Kavieng all "lost" seven fighters on the way to target, the two squadrons from Manus lost three fighters each on the way to target... is this happening because of "built in realism" and due to some realistic screw ups happening or is it just a plain bad design bar any realism or logic? Must be a funny realistic screw up that three squadrons lose 7 fighters each and two (from the other base) lose 3 fighters each... OMG, this is so silly... strike modelling, the DIVE (in relation to strato sweeps) and land based radar all needs to be looked at. As it is now, it is ridicoulos, with land based radar working after the patch this will just get more and more insane, with one side having everything (more or less) airborne (same as with carriers) and the other side sending in everything in a stupid piece meal fashion... I just can´t belive that ppl can be so stubborn to keep insisting everything would be ok... well, perhaps it´s ok as this is what they designed, but then they have to say good bye to any intention of being even close to realism... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Lang Son , at 70,56 Weather in hex: Clear sky Raid spotted at 37 NM, estimated altitude 39,500 feet. NO working radar, no more fighters in the air after the piece meal sweeps... must be even more depressing for the receiving end in this case... will be mega depressing for me as soon as radar works, this then will mean I can not attack any target with such a number of enemy fighters, no matter how many fighter squadrons I´ve got as they all show up alone... stupidity... and if you then complain you get the silly tip that says "you have to get more fighters over the target to counter the enemy´s numerical advantage"...
