Why is it every time a major ship is damaged, the rest of the ships, save one DD, leave her behind? I try to make the others escort my damaged CVs home, but they refuse to even try. When the subs come, there are no escorts to defend.

I have noticed that my CV commanders are very stupid. I always set them to do not react. Just like the comment in the manual, they still do. This has caused their loss every time save once. That one time was the only time I actually won Coral Sea. I guess one time to celebrate is doing good.......

Some ofthe very highly rated US commanders will react ( several hexs even ) even if you have it switched off.

So it`s a trade off I guess.

I would prefer to manually created a damaged TF and assign the escorts, but that`s what we have.

Some guys have posted if you assign the rest of the original TF the " Follow" command with the new damage TF`s # they will sail in the same hex at the slow speed ( unless they are very short of fuel in which case they seem to just go home...)

Just be sure to reassign the damage TF & original TF home port to a nearby base.

Keeping AO`s near the CV`s , and in use, is critical for the US player in this Game.

PS: Winning Coral Sea as the US in #17 is really something to be proud of...

I'll try the follow command from now. Would be nice ifit were easier, but I guess it's time to leave them alone and let them continue with their work. No sense in complaining about things which are unbroken. I guess we all want to eat our cake........

I am very very satisfied about beating Japan once at Coral Sea. I have started the battle quite a few times now and can almost guarrentee breaking even against the A.I.. The supposed Japanese advantage can be worked around, but it can be extremely nerve wracking.
