Yes, one can understand why they were so upset. I mean, the temerity of the English-ensuring that their fleet wasn't handed over to Hitler!

No kidding. I never knew this before. Anyone got a pix?

Low-quality, but still. FAA Sea Hurricane off HMS Biter, during Operation Torch:

I think I would have been angered at the loss of life on 'my side', but inwardly grateful that my materiel wasn't being used to facilitate the prosecution of the war for the benefit of my country's occupiers.

Strictly speaking the French were now neutral having signed the armistice with Hitler so were no longer allied with the UK. However even being neytral is no defence, just look at the battle of Copehnagen in 1807. Sorry about that T.

I look out my door,
And I see it is snowing,
While my guitar gently weeps...

I must go to work,
But I really don't wanna,
Still my guitar gently weeps...

Hi all,

Leslie Nielsen died...

For me his "Forbidden Planet" (1956) was great movie (also it was his start in acting career)!

Just that song. I've got a lot of Beatles songs already, but I didn't have that one.

Unfortunately yes. We can call him Shirley no more.

On a lighter note, on Thanksgiving I had a very enjoyable conversation with a RN four ringer who's the British liason officer to STRATCOM. Like you , a former sewer pipe sailor who commanded Splendid,Victourious and the Perisher....er, Periscope course.

Victorious is an SSBN. I think splendid is now tied up at Rosyth along with all the other rusting nuclear kettles.
