I'll give you a rundown on my first try, played until mid February. At first view, the Indian Army seems to be very brittle and spread out across Burma, just like IRL. Any reinforcements seemed doomed with having to hold Rangoon for so long to receive them. Some Chinese "Divisions" arrive after about 45 days at Imphal? and later at Lashio. First turns are slow, the IJA is crossing the ranges into Burma, I began to evacuate Tavoy and decided to defend Moulemein, Pegu & Rangoon before deciding on a strategy for Upper Burma. On 6/1/42 the IJA I/143 attacked my retreating Tavoy forces without success, but after a bit of bombarding on 12/1/42 a shock attack pushed back 2 Burma Bde . Mergui fell 18/1/42 to 112 Rgt, only a base force defending the base. In the meantime I had been finding Bns to send to Moulmein & Pegu and the first reinforcements had been arriving. The RAF & AVG had started well and caused heavy losses to the IJAAF, especially to Sally's over Rangoon but with limited AV pts they were slowly wearing down and victories were getting harder to achieve. On 27/1/42 the IJA attacked Moulmein and despite heavy losses cleared the town on first try. Ground combat at Moulmein (55,55) Japanese Shock attack Attacking force 9010 troops, 93 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 456 Defending force 4617 troops, 51 guns, 18 vehicles, Assault Value = 193 Japanese adjusted assault: 204 Allied adjusted defense: 51 Japanese assault odds: 4 to 1 (fort level 1) Japanese forces CAPTURE Moulmein !!! However the garrison of Rangoon held out, shock attacks came in at 1 to 99 or similar and very heavy losses incurred by the IJA. Sadly for the AI, the entire IJA force moved into Rangoon, allowing a Gurkha Bde which was in Toungoo to slip back into Pegu and block the IJA supply. I've played up to 21/2/42, the IJA is going nowhere, and the Allied mobile force is 1 understrength Bde so I am at a point where I dont see any use in continuing unless Andy says there isanother IJA Division coming. Ground combat at Rangoon (54,53) Allied Bombardment attack Attacking force 9140 troops, 164 guns, 51 vehicles, Assault Value = 504 Defending force 18483 troops, 202 guns, 100 vehicles, Assault Value = 472 Japanese ground losses: 44 casualties reported Squads: 0 destroyed, 5 disabled Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled Engineers: 0 destroyed, 1 disabled Assaulting units: Railway BAF Battalion 7/10th Baluch Battalion 1st West Yorkshire Battalion 1/9th Jat Battalion 1st Cameronians Battalion 2nd Burma Brigade 1st Iniskilling's Battalion 1/BFF Brigade 1st KOYLI Battalion 46th Indian Brigade 1st Gloucestershire Battalion 12th Burma Rifles Battalion 7th Hussars Regiment RM Viper Force Rangoon BAF Battalion 4th Burma Rifles Battalion 2/BFF Brigade 2nd Royal Tank Regiment 17th Indian Div 221 Group RAF 103rd RN Base Force 27th Indian Mountain Gun Regiment 8th HAA Bty 2nd Anti-Tank Regiment 28th Indian Mountain Gun Regiment 3rd LAA Bty Defending units: 214th Infantry Regiment 143rd Infantry Regiment 213th Infantry Regiment 112th Infantry Regiment 215th Infantry Regiment 33rd Engineer Regiment 33rd Division 55th Division 15th Army 55th Mountain Gun Regiment 33rd Mountain Gun Regiment I'll post some Victory pt and air loss figures tomorrow.
