I have never seen any discussion on production.
Can someone describe the produciton model of the game?
Do you need to manage factories to research and build tanks, and planes?
Do you order the building of divisions? Or are they scheduled?

1) Production is handled automatically, for the most part, with your factories producing set amounts of goods and materiel every turn. You do not need to manage it, or research anything, if you do not want to.

2) Only the Soviet player gets to build divisions and other formations. The Axis player can disassemble divisions into component regiments and then reassemble them. However, there are definitely scheduled reinforcements/withdrawals. For example, Soviet players are discouraged from building a large number of divisions in 1941, due to the volume of reinforcements already coming down the pipeline, every turn. There is a tab that shows exactly what is going to be showing up, and when.

This is exactly what I want to hear.  Don't want it to turn into WITP-type production.

So there's automatic production, that's OK for me. But is there any ahistorical scenarios, german on stereoids? Maybe 1 or 2 extra panzer armees or something like that?

Given the power of the editor, anything is possible - see the sticky topic above on how to create Maus UberPanzer battalions.

Production is covered in detail in section 21 of the manual.
