Will there be a bundling of DW and the expansion. I still don't have this game yet cant seem to get it in Australia. So i am looking at doing a dd. If there is a bundling will it be at a good price. I notice that DW is at a good price at the moment. Not sure if i should wait for the bundling and hope it is at a good price or get the standalone at the current price.

I downloaded the game no problems, and the Direct Download version is all I have.  I have never found a hard copy of the game here in the USA either, but then hard copy is going by the  wayside here.  Part of me wishes that Matrix/Codeforce would hook up with Impulse or Steam...but then part of me loathes Steam.  The convenience would be nice though.  It's kind of ironic...you are so close to Codeforce ( located in Auckland NZ ) yet, so far away from the game :(  However, with Direct Download you are as close as a few clicks.  It's kind of like alternate universes..we are so close to them it's pathetic yet still so very far away.

I couldnt find a hard copy anywhere here in oz. Though you can get them from Ebay.

I wouldn't want Steam or Impulse because of the activations. Matrix don't have activations on there games.

Probably the reason you can't find a hard copy anywhere in Oz is because as far as I understand the only place you can buy the game is from Matrix no matter what country you are in.  So, if you want a hard copy you got to get it from Matrix.  Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not entirely sure, but I thought this was the case for all Matrix games.

I just found a hard copy here. But it is a bit costly though.

I downloaded the game and copied onto a disk and saved another copy onto my backup hard-drive. I printed out a blowup of the game GFX for use as a disk cover.

Currently at £18.99 in the UK it's a complete bargain.

I will be buying the expansion the minute it comes out - even if it's next Tuesday (Cataclysm day)
Played 4x since Utopia, MOO, Civ etc (the first on the Amiga - before they numbered them) and this is right up there with the very best.
Soon will have the depth of Space Empires V with out the brain melting micro management (which although not "hard" is "very very dull")

Scritty

PS
What with this great looking expansion on the way -  and the Aussies taking 3 wickets for almost 1000 runs in the last week - life is getting better by the day.

Just get the "download + boxed" copy from Matrix, then you can play it while waiting for the postman ... :)
I have had several games delivered here to Au from Matrix, and their service has been excellent.

I can't make it to the chat tonight, I was planning too, but its just a bit too late for me (2am)

So I'll ask the one burning question I had here, hopefully Erik can shed some light on this.

Will there be a DW and RotS in a single bundle?

I want a hardcopy of both.  When I bought DW I had never heard of the game, the dev, or the publisher and so assumed it would probably be an average game that would only keep me occupied for a week or so   With all that in mind I just got the DL version.  Obviously I'm not going to rebuy the original just to get the hardcopy, but if there is some kind of bundle with the addon I will get that, assuming its on or around the same release date as the addon.

I'll try to remember to ask about a possible bundle Woodman. (I'm curious about it myself.)

The topic was brought up in the recent chat session:

V22 Osprey Erik, will there be a reduced priced package if a new buyer buys both at the same time?
Erik_Rutins We haven't decided on that yet V22, but it's likely

Martok Partially related to V22 Osprey's question: What's the possiblity of the original game being sold with the expansion as a single bundle?
Erik_Rutins Hi Martok, we'll provide more info on that over the coming days, we are still discussing bundling options

Hi Everyone,

Here's the plan:

We are in final QA, so barring any critical issues, Return of the Shakturi should release by this Thursday. It will be priced at $24.99 for the Download and requires the original Distant Worlds.

We will also have a bundle where if you buy Distant Worlds and Return of the Shakturi together, you get a 20% discount on Return of the Shakturi, making it $19.99. With the current sale price on Distant Worlds, this is an oustanding package for the amount of gameplay you get.

We will also make that bundle pricing available to existing customers for the first two weeks after release. That means that for everyone, the starting price of Return of the Shakturi will be $19.99. This way if you already own DW, you can get Return of the Shakturi at the bundle price as if you were buying the package now. After that initial period, the non-bundle price of Return of the Shakturi will return the standard $24.99 level and after the Holiday Sale, the price of DW will return to its normal level too. The next few weeks will definitely be the best time to buy in, both for existing customers and those who are thinking about jumping in.

Regards,

- Erik

Thx.

Thank you very much! That's the only thing I really needed to know. Haven't played DW for about a week now since I finished my latest game. Didn't want to start a new one when the expansion was so close.

Whooohoo! under $20 for this expansion! It'll be a great break between bouts of War In The East! Thanks!

Long time no see, Tophat1812.

$19.99 = £12.67 at the current rate. Great news that's superb value. Bravo guys.

Thanks. And don't worry, I'm enjoying it.

As I've had quite some free time recently, I think I must have played over 10 hours a day for the past 2 weeks. So yeah, I really love this game :)

I'm glad to know the expansion will come out soon, I was waiting for it before starting a new game.
