And in Oz JJ starts the long march down to Alice Cooper: (Little do they know 67,000 Australian troops are about to leave Diego Garcia as Op Weasel begins)

Burma June 21st

IG Div came out of Shwebo and spanked 2 brigades:
Allied ground losses:
1208 casualties reported
Squads: 64 destroyed, 24 disabled
Non Combat: 47 destroyed, 35 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Vehicles lost 13 (5 destroyed, 8 disabled)
Units retreated 2

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

Assaulting units:
Imperial Guards Division

Defending units:
14th British Brigade
16th British Brigade

Santa Maria! Most of the losses aren't coming back, either. At least they retreated the right way. Back to Imphal for them most likely.

Let's here it for 15 Brigade lads......

What does JJ have in that little burg 2 hexes SW of Mandalay?

Also, looks like some of His Majesty's forces are still in Shwebo??

7 units, 5000 troops, no idea of the composition
70th "Division" that strange mostly artillery unit.

Why don't you just join a Hare Krishna group? Those guys never seem worried about anything.

On second thought maybe not. Probably this chap got frustrated with the land combat model.

Time for some recon by aerial bombardment.

You do have a point, especially after dousing himself in a 2 gallon tub of KentuckY Jelly.

Sign in today OHAITE (Fijian for "where the **** did all these Japs come from?")

The LYB's landed on the North coast of Fiji. This can't be a big enough force to capture either base, of course, but they probably have orders to eat the natives pigs and coconuts and restrict Allied freedom of movement. I can't imagine the natives are too thriled with this but neither is SouthPac. This is like finding a bunch of cockroaches 1 week after you just fired the pest control guy because there weren't any annoying vermin around.

There appear to be TWO bombardment forces headed for Suva harbor. It was about time for Kirishima to come back. I now fear they realize they have been blocked at Nadi and have a flanking landing planned for Suva. Suva still has a CD unit but is now light on infantry. Consequently, I am sending 182nd Regt back to Suva and one Bn of the 102nd. Either I am right and will look brilliant in a few days or something else could happen. If anyone tries to talk me out of sending 182nd back to Suva I am going to put you on ignore. Another Bn of 102nd will head to Northern Fiji to protect the porcine population.

Suva airfield is still at 73% damage and there are still half a dozen damaged B-17's there. Look...I'm not proud of that...OK..so just shut your pie holes. Nadi is still fully operational so I sent in 5 more B-26's. Rather than get chewed up over Nadi by carrier based Zeroes, the B-26's will attack the cucarachas in Northern Fiji and on Kandavu.

We had to refuel Hornet and Illustrious South of Raoul Island. Enterpise is catching up. A squadron of TBF's was flown onto the deck of Hornet. Samoa is packed with SBD's and TBF's from Yorktown and Wasp which have been flown ahead. Yorktown is 2-3 d out from Samoa but will have to refuel. That puts an engagement off Fiji about 5-6 days off. Theater reserves headed for New Zealand are being diverted to Fiji and will follow the carriers in.

There's a reason it's called "Late Island" - should have been a clue.

They must be desperate to land on the north coast after landing at Nadi. They might hope that the north coast landing will pull significant forces out of Suva - don't be baited, but halting that enemy force in the jungle is a good idea.

Very cool! Do they have three levels of oars-men?

I thought the "Late" was a rererence to the arrival of the Japs. They ought to explain stuff like this in the rule book.

These two would be equivalent.

And considering the old adage "No plan survives contact with the enemy",
we have the following probabilities:

THE PLAN = "Cpt Mandrake looks like a genius" = 0% probability

NOT THE PLAN = "Something else happens" = 100% probability

I'm having problems following this without punctuation. Do we believe that the orders are to

eat the natives' pigs and coconuts

or

eat the natives, pigs, and coconuts?

If you have good intel on the latter, sounds like you could build a compelling case the natives should be fully committed to the Allied cause.

Yep, a major "homeport" like SF, or an off map base.

LOL! It isn't often you get an old-style Outer Limits/Twilight Zone reference like that. Everyone think happy thoughts.

To Mandrake,
Sorry there Cap, I forgot about the plagiarism . I withdraw the aspersion on your character that you made it all up.... You stole quite a bit of it too
