Hi,
Fairly new to the game. Started the GC and watching the Japanese close in on the Philippines. Is there any way to evacuate the US units there. I've been trying to get MacArthur out there but he is in the USAAFE HQ (R) and there is no way to change its higher command. I can not load it onto any ships and I can load it onto planes but those planes can not fly to other nationality bases. How do you get these units out of there quick?

Thanks

Don't worry. Mac shows up later as SWPAC.

R means restricted either permanently or you must pay political poins to change HQ's to a non restricted one and the you can evacuate

In the upper right hand corner you will see USAFEE R in yellow on some of your units. You can click on it, and it will bring up a pop up box then you can change your command (it costs political points or PP). The only units you can buy out are the American units. The US naval Base Forces are free you can pull them out from the begining.

Best strategy is to keep your political points for all the later war buying out of OZ and West Coast Divisions.

The strategy I would use is get all your float planes (Catalina's) etc and air transport all those infantry on the islands to Clark Field. Make your stand at Clark cos the terrain gives x3 defence.

The same strategy can be used with the dutch to make a stand at Batavia or in the mountain ranges.

The Phillipines Cebu Island base force can have a fragment picked up by sub, to be rebuilt when the parent dies, this base force has a lot of naval support and is an unrestricted unit.

Also fragments can be grabbed of the singapore garrison which is unrestricted they can be rebuilt into divisions later.

Also there's a brigade at Darwin where the other brigades which make up the division are scattered between Singapore and Port Moresby. When the other brigades are destroyed you can rebuild the division. Its an important one to remember cos it don't happen automatically.

So actualy if a brigade which is part of a division is destroyed and you group all the remaining units/brigades you can still recombine the division and rebuilt it to full strength ? I always thought that you need to rescue a cadre of every brigade to recombine.

You only have to group all none destroyed parts and fragments together to rebuild. In my AI game I lost the battalions at Singapore and all of the Port Moresby brigade, then the battalion at darwin said rebuild unit, on checking on unit organization it said all other parts were destroyed,

so I rebuilt, but a bit too late in 43 I could have been rebuilding from mid 42 otherwise.
