I was playing a game and noticed that the incorrect troop picture was displaying and when I exited the game to check on why I decided to change the picture to see if that fixed the problem. Well I couldn't change the picture because Distant Worlds was still using it. I opened task manager and noticed that there was a Distant Worlds process still active, even though I had closed the game. I stopped it and then was able to rename the picture. I thought you guys should know that Distant Worlds isn't releasing all of their resources. I should note that I did have a CTD then restarted noticed the wrong portrait being used, got out of the game and then noticed the resources not being released.

We haven't seen this behavior before. Can you reliably reproduce this problem? (exit DW, but the process is still active)

Actually yes, it just happened again. I  got what I think was a unhandled exception which gave me the following message (be prepared it's a long one):

Ok, I can understand if you had a crash that the process might still be hanging there :)

That crash looks to be caused by deleting some of the default designs, which is fixed in the first update for ROTS, which will be out in a week or so.

Can you reproduce this problem (exit DW, but process still active) if you exit the game normally using the "Exit" link from the main menu, or the "Exit Distant Worlds" button in the game menu?

The game appears to terminate it's resources when exiting the game normally. I will keep a look out to see it if it doesn't. Thanks for your help. I'll probably uninstall and then reinstall to see if I can get rid of the CTD's. Sound kinda dirty when one says it like that. :)
