After learning the game and playing the tutorial, which was fun and easy. i then played Minsk and won a victory and thought this is easy pickins. i then went to Smolensk. What a learning experience that was, way to far and i was too slow because i wanted my units to looks pretty on the map, thats what happens when you think you are Patton or Hoepner in this case. i was rewarded promptly with a minor defeat. i soon realized there is a little more to this game then i first thought. On to Leningrad, well the scenario started off just like the others, easy peasy. i was smokin for like 8-9 turns , then my armor was about 60 miles S of Novagorod and my supply lines got cut and they where stuck for a couple of turns waiting for the boys to catch up. I then realize that the rail line running through Novgorod was the best way and maybe i could cut off Leningrad and the capture the city. My main problem though is the Russian hordes are just all over the place and trying to kill all of them is like chasing cats. About T 10 i rethought my plan and is this is what i did. Forget Leningrad, its to cold there anyway. How about taking as many victory spots as i can and see what happens. i closed the finnish lid down to the FINNS CANT ATTACK LINE, which i discovered in this one also, never saw that line and when i did i was cussing in Finnish. I figured if i could get to Rzhev and maybe Vyshny Volocheck that might be enough points to get a minor.
The area around Leningrad is nothing but 4-5 pt forts loaded to the max. I did try to take Pushkin on the last turn and wouldn't recommend it. Probably half my losses may have come in the one fight. At anyrate here is how this little nutcracker turned out.
