Guys, I found to my surprise this is a whole different animal from SP1! My tactics used so well by me in SP1 do not work so well in SPWaW. I found to my dismay that those Polish 40mm AA guns are tank killlers. I have a new respect for the artillery also. Casualties are low but that supression is a killer. Especially when on the recieving end of 100mm Polish bombartment! Those Poles are not so much a walk over in this version. I really have to work at it. It is a far more challenging game. Larry Incoming Mail Duck! The broad front takes some getting use to. I am truely learning a whole new game. I have to rethink my tactics.

It is an impressive leap forward isn't it? I think you'll find the game rewards combined arms much better than SP1 did. Also, if you think in terms of platoons instead of squads/individual vehicles you'll find that you will do better, especially with Command and Control "on". Finally, infantry are much more lethal against armor than in SP1; you can't roll up right next to them and blow them away like you could before...

Glad you've joined us Larry. It does take some serious rethinking of strategy and even of design in scenarios. Its a whole new (and better) ball game here. Wild Bill ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

I use a timer when i play SPWaW to force a limit on myself. It is so engrossing that 2-3 hours seem to slip away as if they were minutes. This is especially a problem on weeknights when you come to the realization that it is 3 in the morning and you have to be up for work in three hours. Enjoy

Playing SPW@W til 2AM is fine when your retired, but the wailing you get from Silent Hunter, SPIII and Panzer General 2 from being ignored is keeping the cat up. ------------------ Sm:):)th Sailing...chief

Larry, Toss out the game guides and read works on real combined arms tactics. You'll find they work. troopie ------------------ Pamwe Chete

Achtung Panzer! by Heinz Guderian Creating a Professional Army by Charles DeGaulle. I have read these but do not have them. A local university library does. The one I use most is 'Handboek van Kombineerde Wapens Taktiek' for use of the officers and men of the South African Army. The Red Army manuals are very useful if you can find them. Experience is the best teacher. troopie ------------------ Pamwe Chete
