Hi all,

I hope you all had great New Year's Eve!!!

Wife and I had very nice time last night (very nice food to eat, some dancing even even some sleep)... now we are watching concert on TV from Vienna (traditional Vienna New Year's concert by Vienna Philharmonic)...

BTW, it is -6 degrees Centigrade here... cold and gray (low winter overcast is blocking the sun - shame - until few days ago we had nice blue skies and sunshine although it was cold as well)...

Went out to dinner, then panto, home just before the bells. Played Halo Reach with our son for a while then watched Silence of the Lambs until 3am and so to sleep.

I can't think of a movie less conducive to sleep than "Silence of the Lambs", Simon. Remember seeing that in the theaters: I needed to go to a public place that was well lit and just be around other people for a little while afterwards.

Back from a surprise trip away.   Luckily the near zero vivisbilty of yesterday has improved else I'd have been spending New Year away from home.  Now to deal with the combination of jet-lag and lack of sleep in the days before I went flying

Cyprus? Some undisclosed 'sandbox' locale?

I had to go to [CLASSIFIED] to [CLASSIFIED] so that the [CLASSIFIED] could [CLASSIFIED]. Obviously this meant that [CLASSIFIED]. Still, it was worth it to [CLASSIFIED].

I see. Why over the holiday week? Perhaps some rear-echelon mother [CLASSIFIED] didn't plan the easily forseeable wing maintenance, requiring grab-[CLASSIFIED] rat-[CLASSIFIED] last minute cluster [CLASSIFIED] 'emergency' deployment for RAF ground personnel?

Just the way of things I guess. The flight was required and I was the lucky one who got the call. Not really a deployment, just an overnight trip to another base then back home the next day.
