ORIGINAL: rhondabrwn Had a Filipino feast with my next door neighbor and the rest of our Filipino teacher contingent... lots of delicacies... including a traditional roast boar's head (bet you didn't know that was their tradition for holidays). My wife is Filipino and I speak fluent Tagalog. The Tagalog word for the roasted boar's head is litson. It's common to see the entire pig roasted too! They've done that when the weather was warmer. Tonight we had just the head, chicken wings, fantastic Taquitos, Jalapenos with cream cheese filling wrapped in bacon, a sliced ham, and a dozen differen deserts :) We are very lucky to have a vibrant Filipino community in Pinon, our pitch in dinners are always special! I wasn't quite up to eating a slice of the boar's ears I must admit, though I had a piece of the jowls. I sampled everything else though. What a party! It just hit -7 outside and my wood stove isn't keeping up -had to kick in the electric heat for a few minutes to take the chill off the house (that's why I'm up and posting at 4:30 am!) Back to bed - Happy New Year Everyone
