ORIGINAL: Matys 1. I play human, get an lost colony event in a ruin, and it point me to a planet with already an independent race. So I get a planet with 2 billion humans plus the pop of the alien race already there. It seem that I only get a lost colony on a empty plant only if there are no more independent race planet left. That is not the case. It can happen that a Lost Colony is placed on a planet with independent population, but it is not the rule. I think (speculating) that the event looks for a suitable planet with disregard to whether there is already some population. The only requirements seem to be that the planet isn't owned by an empire, the system proabably must also be unowned, and that it has some minimum quality rating. In all my games (not too many) I have only once received a Lost Colony on a planet with some independents. Make that 10 Lost Colonies without independents to 1 with. It is still a shame to miss a chance to get a planet that, e.g., can colonize a different environment from your native one. quote:
2. Spaceport picture doesn't change when I retrofit it to another design with a different picture. Confirmed. It happens not always and I am not sure about the exat circumstances. But: * When I purchase a planet from an AI empire using a different set of ship images, that colony has already a spaceport and I upgrade the spaceport to one of my designs, the image usually adapts. * When I upgrade a small spaceport to a larger one, the image usually remains that of the small spaceport, but is enlarged to reflect the upgraded spaceport's size.
