How does one get the stars and the elite designations in theie user id's? is this based on activity or number of posts?

It's based only on posts, the more you post the better it is

Normally it's based on postcount, then again, you could bribe the forum moderators with a bottle of Jack Daniels ---> five star elite guard faster than you can blink an eye.

and other aars it gets your post up count quicker then you think. ;)
