Hey all!

Version 12 is now available on the front page. It contains the Boskara, but also it contains a bonus content folder that includes a red colour schemed Boskara that you can use to replace the default purple one if you prefer red.

Now, a special Introduction to Hive Life! Enjoy!

Top Row:

Royal Hive - Main warship crewed by Warbosks usually led by a Royalbosk.
War Hive - Warship crewed by Warbosks, often seen destroying malfunctioning Teekan ships, see "An Introduction to Teekan Engineering" a few pages back.

Second Row

Motherhive - Mobile base of operations crewed by Warbosks and Workerbosks.
Workerhive - Crewed by Workerbosks, used for building things.
Seedhive - Seeds planets with Boskeggs, ready for hatching and colonizing.

Third Row

These are the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Basehives, crewed by a mix of Warbosks and Workerbosks.

Fourth Row

Breedinghive (Resort Base) - A happy place for Loverbosks(?) One of the only Boskara hives that is probably more ugly on the inside than on the outside.
Sciencehive - Place for scientific research. Crewed by Boffinbosks(?)

Thanks all!

I've been experimenting with Ketarov designs based on the suggestions by poeple in this thread, but so far nothing concrete. As soon as I manage to make something passable I'll post a pic

In the meantime, I'm working on something that I hope J HG T likes (fingers crossed)

First attempt at a Kiadian ship, was a Destroyer:

The ship looks... great in a weird way. The only thing I can say currently is that it should maybe be a bit longer and narrower. That's what I think at least. Hard to say more when I haven't seen rest of the ships, 'cause it may fit in the set just as it is.

Np, just experimenting, I'll make some more and we'll see how it looks.  Main thing was I was hoping you wouldn't say "bring back the orange"   As you might have noticed I'm somewhat conservative when it comes to ship colours.

Nah, I can live without orange.
The colors look quite fine for me.
My own image of high-tech colors consist of different shades of silver, grey, white or black as main color and maybe some bright/semi-bright colors (yellow, blue, red, lime etc.) to give some contrast and coolness factor or to indicate some markings (flags, logos and others).

A Kiadian Capital design, this time slightly colder in colour. Also, this pic shows how much sharper the images are in photoshop than in game, I never really noticed before

Yip, that's an awesome job right there.

I'm also a Kiadian player, but even though I play as them often, I'm not sure what I wanted their ships to look like. You've done a great job. That one can't have been easy.

Cheers guys!

Just a quick note I forgot to mention, I think now all the races in the game use a different shipset number in the Races file, which means I won't have to update it anymore. So, only image replacements needed from now on, that should mean from now on all new versions will be savegame compatible with version 12 or above.

Below is a preview of the Kiadian Colonyship, but I also put some other colonyships around it. I think the main downside of the original graphics were that they did not display much about the culture of the race they belonged to. But now you can see we are getting some diversity, I picked these four because they are particularly stark in contrast with each other

I agree with that, i think they should be really looong and sleek, possibly even a bit concave on the sides, a bit of asthetic vulnerability while their tech is superior. As in, they dont need to look "buff and bulky" with their tech :)

Not trying be an ass here, but I think it would look stupid with concaved sides. Also, humans (and Securans) already have kinda long designs so Kiadians need unique style, which this ship has.

Always great to come back to this thread and look how the Woodmaniverse is growing.
As noone else is taking up the gauntlet, I will:

Bring back the orange, Woodman!

Maybe for the Shandar? Yes?
In my vision those laid back Lizards drinking Volcanoes (With sparkly sulphur-laced icecubes in them, you know) while lounging in their geyser-powered whirlpool would use bright and happy colors on their warships.
With that the motto of their navy just has to be:
Don´t worry about friendly fire, it is the only kind we ever do.
Maybe they would be candidates for the catamaran shipdesigns too, just for the fun-factor of an actual sailing catamaran to add to their image.

Have to agree with tofudog here. Shandar should definetly have white/gray and orange ships.

The Kiadians don't appreciate impatience Sim, careful or you'll be seeing a peeved off Battlecruiser off your bow!

[ensign]Captain! Something very large just dropped out of warp off our port bow! It's massive and the energy readings are off the scale.

[captain Simulation01]Bring us to bear on her and put it on screen!

[narrator]The massive ship suddenly appeared on the main viewer and a dread silence filled the bridge.

[ensign]She's charging Weapons Captain!

[captain]Shields up! Launch evasive maneuvers...pattern omega one!

[narrator]The Kiadian ship opened fire and with a single volley tore a massive hole in the hull of the USS Warspite.

Smoke now filled the bridge and sparks were flying from damaged command stations as warning klaxons rang out alerting the crew to the obvious danger posed by the Kiadian ship and the breach in the Hull.

[captain]Return Fire! Arm the Mark V nuclear Torpedo's and prepare for a full spread as soon as they are ready!

[narrator]The warspite lashed out at the pitiless enemy with everything she had, but the Warspite was a mere frigate facing off against a well armed Kiadian Destroyer of a more advanced design. The harsh light filled the void of space as the two warships exchanged fire at a vicious pace....and then suddenly space was disturbed and something was emerging.....

[ensign]Captain! Four ships just dropped out of warp directly to our stern! They're ours Sir! The New York, Brisbane, Calcutta and the Toronto!

[narrator]The Kiadian ship did not have time to flee. The combined might of 5 Confederation ships was too great and briefly a new star filled the viewscreens of the confed fleet.

Shakturi concept, I don't know what ship it is, or even which end is the front and which is the back

But was just playing around with ideas and this is using the set they already used because a few people said they already like them shiny.

Drooling! Bottom of the image is the front.  The large grabbing pincers make this obvious.   However, I would say that the red dots need to be moved toward what I have proclaimed to be the front of the macabre ship vexing the galaxy.

Good idea, also maybe scaling down all the middle bit and adding more smaller bits, to give it the illusion that its bigger.

Very cool and sufficiently intimidating WoodMan.

Feel free to proverbially slap me for this, but could I suggest you leave the exhaust trail out for the Shakturi? Make them more Shadow like? What does everyone think?
