I thought my battery was dying given that the car was turning over very slowly and there were no warning indicators, thereby ruling out the altinator. This matched the symptoms when my first battery started going, only prob is the new batt is less than 3 years old. Process of elimination however so when the car barely cranked the other day i drove it to the local battery dealer where the car promptly quit even pretending to want to start. Being a discount place they had a funny rule about helping customers, (they only do TIRES!) i was at least handed some tools and i swapped batteries only to find that the car still wouldn't crank. Batt not the problem......most likely the starter motor. By a stint of a miracle the car engine caught after a mere one quarter wheeze of a crank and i was able to return the battery while leaving the car running. (great for car jacker trainees!)

Anyway....wanting to avoid a future tow charge, i drove it to my GF's parents house where there's a complete shop in the back. Since everyone was either working or on vacation, i then had to hike in the rain the 5 miles back to the downtown Issy region with as much stuff as i could carry. (our bus routes truely suck east of Seattle)

Now shopping online for a new starter...........looks like they made it a fun piece to try to get at. Good thing the GF dad unit has a lift.

on the bright side....i'm not in as bad of shape as i thought. Good exercise. History books are heavy.

Maybe you have your CAPS LOCK on.

Make sure you stress to GF how accumulating history books is positively affecting your health.

Post Medical Check Tithe, and I'm in such rude health that it's almost offensive...

You're 'almost' offensive?

I was attempting a pun there... Guess it went over your bulbous head...

I know I'm behind the tide here, but I upgraded from WitP Monday by downloading WitP-Admiral's Edition at the sale price. Not sure when I'll start a new game, since I'm still in late 1943 with my current WitP grand campaign.

You'll love it, Dale! Congrats!

Have had another conversation with the Mother in Law this morning and she is still cut off and but has settled down and is a lot calmer today. She has food and tank water to last for a couple of weeks so she will be OK. The highways are also still cut so they have started C-130 flights into the district. There are literally hundreds of trucks lined up in Toowoomba and on the QLD/NSW border but they just can't get through.

Further south, my niece is on the fifth floor of a blacked out apartment block which is now in the middle of the Brisbane river. I'll bet the views are spectacular but I'm sure they will jade before the water recedes in the next 36 hours. I'm not sure where my brother is as he moved recently but as he is SMS messaging and sending e-mails he is obviously OK. We have been unable to get through as the mobile phone network is obviously congested.

Everyone is fine and in no danger but as I said, these are interesting times....'

Interesting times indeed !

Thread, I wish people would stop complaining about the buggy forum search function. It's been broken for YEARS, and every time somebody writes a new thread complaining how broken it is, it functions a tiny bit worse...

Not me. Only wish it would pull Fakebook down with it.

I suspect the "map" is quite old.

Duh, it's four years out of date. Says so at the bottom.

Actually, Alex has a hockey tournament in Atlanta this weekend, and I scheduled the days off before we knew Sara could get them off to go with him.  One of us will stay home to take care of our 4 legged friends instead of massive boarding costs.  I'll be THREAD Darned if I'm going to take vacation days off the work calendar after they are already scheduled!

Sounds like one of you needs to stay home and flip some turns. One of you. Hmmm....which should it be?
