I am invoking rarely used rule #577 of the World's Worst AAR and asking for an actual in-game update with maps. Sorry to get all rule-y on y'all, but you deserve it after bringing up Montgomery.

3= Last Laid

Was caught in a snow stom in the high desert...so yes it snows there rarely. Hung my poncho from a cactus to make a shelter, and watched a beautiful site. Thought i saw Morrison at one point.

"last laid"...good one

Recon shows 4000 jap troops at Nadi. I don't believe it but will order a recon with 150 mm shells tomorrow.

"(seaplanes evacuating troops from Nadi)"

Hm except for if the fighter sweeps made your pilots decide they all got a bad engine, you should have some
patrol/transport plane A2A kills on your list? I assume you got CAP over Nadi?

Needs LRCAP, not CAP, over Nadi to intercept LYB seaplane evacuation.

I'm really quite surprised nobody has said, "Hey, wait, Montgomery wasn't in command yet in North Africa In July of '42 so how could he make the Australian Generals pompous because he wasn't even around them yet so I think you guys are making all this crap up.""

You mean ... you're making this up as you go along?

You sure? I have not recent experience on transport plane ops but I think I remember
some A2A kills from a paradrop mission in an early AE version from CAP.
Aint that basically the same?

If we're invoking the spirit of Monty can I point out that that map was FAR too wide... Everyone knows a good narrow thrust is all you need. I think we need a MUCH narrower but longer map.

P.s. Monty was a Freudian analyst's dream. All that repressed sexuality.

BRILLIANT! Mrs. Pacman devours the wee Jap dobbers! I love the symbology and use of dramatic tension.

I am confused. I thought we were coming from the West around Port Headland. It looks like the new plan has us going through the Torres Strait?

You're daft. *Ms.* Pacman (there never was a Mrs. Pacman) can be identified by her use of a bow on top of her head. Clearly this is the work of the definite article. The one...the only...Pacman. Unless you're proposing that it's Ms. Pacman dressing up like a man? Is this bringing us back full circle towards discussions of Montgomery again?

You may be right. I concede your superior knowledge on the matter. I was confused by the digger helmet on the unisex Pacman riding in the Bren carrier at the extreme left.

Here is my question. Are those french fries near Wyndham or are there actually TWO Jap airfields there?

Yes, that was 193rd Tank Bn on Fiji attacking some poor, bastard, Naval Guard troops armed with coconut Molotov cocktails.

My guess is the positive leader influence refers to me and the local commander is just angry because his seat cushion is worn out or something.

Gentlemen,

I disagree.

That sketch map is exactly the sort of thing Lt Uppington-Smythe (sp) would draw up to record his latest dinosaur fossil findings. When he next receives mail, he will post his findings to the Royal Geographic Society.

When does the "Oscar Bonus" end?

30 Oscars from Tanna swept over Nadi again. This time two squadrons of P-39's from Suva responded and it was not pretty (13 planes at 10K and 18 at 20K). I could have sworn they were all set to zero range. This seems not to be a reliable way to avoid a bleed over intercept to the neighboring hex.

17 P-39's lost (including a quite high 5 "operational" losses) to 8 Oscars. Bloody annoying Oscars.

Clearly, an impulsive and irrational response is called for. I think I will move in the B-17's again and hit Tanna when the weather clears.

8:1 attack today at Suva with the Japs suffering about 1,100 KIA's. I am moving 9th USMC Regt and some arty to Nadi to start the attacks there. Recon by 155's at Nadi today.

Hey...the 100K mark.

Situation, Northern Australia, July 7, 1942

The B-17's from Alice have crushed the airfield at Katherine and the Japs are no longer putting up fighters there. They are bombing the 18th with Sallys from Wyndham (in all likelihood).

Admiral Lord Sprior has noted that Wyndham is within B-17 range from Alice. It is a tempting target but it is a long way and there are quite a few fighters. We will wait for good weather and good intel and try a raid at 20,000 ft.

Evidently, according to Admiral Lord Sprior, some type of accomodation was reached with the Mau Mau's and East Afria Brigade will be leaving Mombasa to participate. Rumor has it there is some kind of future power sharing arrangement in Washington.

I am trying to fix all the slightly dented ships from the Fiji operation without sending them all the way back to Pearl. That leaves Auckland, Wellington, Sydney and Melbourne (Brisbane has a cruiser being repaired from the New Scotland fight).

Question: When an update calls for "level 5 shipyard" what exactly does that mean?
