Loooooooong night of homework "management" duty with my son tonight.  End of the quarter is Friday and, well, it seems that there is quite a bit to still get completed by then.

To quote Devo......on second thought, let's not quote Devo.

Awww....lets! They're one of my perennial favorites. I was thinking of "Gates of Steel" myself:

Unlock the secret voice
Give into ancient noise
Take a chance a brand new dance
Twist away the gates of steel

Twist away
Now twist and shout
The earth, it moves too slow
But the earth is all we know
We pay to play the human way
Twist away the gates of steel

A man is real
Not made of steel

But the earth is all we know
We pay to play the human way
Twist away the gates of steel

The beginning was the end
Of everything now
The ape regards his tail
He's stuck on it
Repeats until he fails
Half a goon and half a God
A man's not made of steel

Twist away
Now twist and shout
The earth, it moves too slow
But the earth is all we know
We pay to play the human way
Twist away the gates of steel

A man is real
That's how he feels

i'm just lookn' for that real tomato...

Tell her that WitE will help you explore your cultural heritage making you a better person and bfu in the process. I would also hope that she's not dumb enough to believe it.

The only "cultural heritage"I got even a mild response to was that the Imperial Russian navy has a frigate named after her city (actually, a battle that happened near her city).

Her response to AE was......."Hmmmm....ok".

Tell her to get back to the kitchen where she belongs.

Not until you try that with Ms. Dixie first.

This is a pretty interesting chart from The Economist comparing the size of the US States economies to various countries from around the world:

http://www.economist.com/node/17910000?story_id=17910000

We (Croatia) are Hawaii!!!

I wanna trade!!!

Leo "Apollo11"

I don't

The economies of my state ( Tennessee ) and Finland are about the same. I have always wanted to tour Scandinavia so maybe I can convine my Governer to send me on a good will tour

forwarded this to my swiss friend, noting that New Jersey is (was?) his equivalent state...he responded that his country and his women are still more beautiful....my mature, grown up, well thought out response was, "Says you!!!"...

Nobody wants to be compared to NJ.

I totally agree.

It's not what everyone expects in a war movie but I like the story the director is trying to put across. The plot's got a bit of depth.

the problem with the movie for most americans is that it's not your basic WWII movie story...it's more of a vietnam era story...it's like seeing betty white in a bikini...it just doesn't sit well

Apocalypse Now was not your basic war story and yet its one of the best known war movies. Or did I miss the point?

Hey, you both knew that I was a bit off kilter when you agreed to the PBEM. No fair backing out now.

Now, if you'll pardon me, my duty now for the future is to finish my portion of our 2x2 turn...

imagine the "heart of darkness" story (which is what Apoc. Now is based on) in a WWII setting...doesn't quite fit for me...that's the point i was trying to make...

Whats the "basic war story"?

1. Club another man over the head.
2. Club his woman over the head.
3. Drag his woman home by the hair.

Same as it ever was..... since before fire.

No, in my case, my lovely bride hit me over the head with a club and said, "You'll do."

Early morning tithe,

well Guy's I've downloaded War in the East, and I know I said I wasn't going to get it.

But... with all your good reports on the game, and the juicy AAR's on the forum, I just lost control.

Resistance is futile!

Leo "Apollo11"

I don't know about that. Sure I own it and have installed it on my laptop, but I only started it up to make sure it works and see how pretty it looks. I'm sure I'll love playing it one day, which is why I grabbed it as my prize, but AE is a hard task mistress!

That is exactly where I am. I have it, played around with it, will probably play it one day. But am in the middle of a Downfall game and can barely contend with that.

Those Nazis and Soviets will just have to wait for a while.

Wow, another loooooong night of homework and test prep duty for me, and I'm not even the one doing the work!

Almost wrapped for tonight.  There's still work that should be done tonight, but with a semester comprehensive text in Algebra and a Science test tomorrow, sleep needs to fit into the equation somewhere.
