In my current game I hold one end of Guadalcanal and my opponent the other. I assume if I was to move all my combat troops over to his side of the island he could then move his over to mine (and wreck havoc with any unprotected base forces)
Or it could happen simultaneously if we both plot moves at the same time.

If this is the case I think it needs to be looked at - there should be a front line somewhere. I am happy to have certain troop types in certain terrain types (raiders/jungle?) mounting infiltration raids - but having no front line would be plainly wrong.

Anyone know if this is the case - if so any thoughts?
Chris

Land movement in UV takes time and is not HEX bound. Therefore I think that both forces would meet in-between...

Hi,

Since you stay in your own hex until the very moment (or rather turn) that you actually have completed your movement into the next hex and being in the same hex as an enemy unit doesn't initiate combat in itself I think it is possible that if you time it perfectly you might find yourself in the enemy hex but all the enemy troops have moved into your hex.

Well I thought I may as well try this. At the moment the US and
Jap forces were due to cross the US forces moved into the
Jap hex and the Japanese units did not move and had their distance travelled so far reset to zero. After this the Jap forces were not allowed to plot movement out of the hex and the US unit could only plot movement to the hex it came from.

So I have answered my own question :)
