Does a Amph TF that has MSW boats mostly immune to mines?

If you send MSW in by them selves to they tend to get trashed?

Immune is too strong a term. "Reduced chance/rate" may be better.

If there are any coastal guns present, yes they get trashed (and very badly).

Yes, that seems to be the consensus. Having some larger ships to draw the CD fire helps spare your MSW's a bit.

IME...MSW eligible ships will sweep as stand alones or inside larger task forces.  How you depoly them depends on the level of enemy activity you expect to have.

So, if I have say 149 mines at Batavia, and two CD units, shouldn't it be unlikely that a TF without a minesweeper in it could enter the hex and not get a scratch? Mines have been particularly underproductive in my game, as Allies now in May 42 against the AI.

I had AMcs until said task force came in and shredded 8 of them, but now the mines deteriorate and the CA, CL, and DD that came in are still hunting around happily.

The best use I've found for AMc is to draw unescorted Bettys on Naval orders to hit my cap. I was taking down two a turn because I put two AMc two hexes away and they just kept coming. I know in a PBEM a player would adjust, but do many players use small ships to lure attacks from air or surface?
