Course cancelled.  In laws visiting.  Send help!

Quickly now, Sprior! Can't you tell this man needs a rat in a cage strapped onto his face? For the love of humanity! QUICKLY!

Some sort of distraction would be helpful, especially if it gets me out of cooking tonight.

Can't you volunteer for the duty or something? An urgent flight to somewhere?

Are you familiar with the phrase "I'm On Leave"? No matter what is happening here, I'm not at work so it could already be worse I don't care if they're giving out free sweets at work, I'm not going.

There's also the Universal Military Rule Number One (1): Do Not Volunteer For Anything Ever, Under Any Circumstances*. I've already been suckered into volunteering once and look where that's got me

*Capital letters needed for emphasis

Yeah, I'm familiar with the concept of leave.(I DID spend a little bit of my life trying to use it). It's that vacation that I was never allowed to take,or if I did , I'd be recalled from (even if visiting another country , generally across large waters). Military rule #2 DO VOLUNTEER , when the alternative is something much, much worse. (Generally combined with extreme coercion from a senior NCO). You are the only one who knows the worst of choices. Looks like you chose in-law duties.Have fun!

He hasn't posted anywhere on the forum for a while. I think I'll try an email him.

in other news......my long lost friend "one upya" commented to me the other day after my announcement of winning Triglyceride Lotto, "only 435??!! Hell....i had a rating of 699!!!!.....till i started taking Fish cod oil." (or some other similar product)

Given that anything over 150 means "Future cardiac event" (a quaint new doctor term for "Sieze up and expire") in all likelyhood, i think this is one comparison i'm happy to let him have.....

Well, I see we've finally abandoned all pretense of caring about Tubbsy and his thread hijacks (which is what his incessant subject line resets are). Those stopped being funny 3 years ago. Fantastic.

It seems to me that "THE THREAD" is simply a place where friends can communicate about their daily lives across widely disparate time zones. So who really cares what the subject line says, as long as it doesn't violate Matrix forum policy?

As long as people get upset about the subject line, I am sure that Nik finds it funny to reset it. If people were to just continue along with their posts and ignore the subject line I would bet that he would stop. It stops being funny when people stop reacting...

Wow....insightful.

I see from your quoting of Terminus that he continues to hurl fat insult references in my direction while complaining about subject reset changes not being funny. Priceless.

A green button was never better invested.

The thing is, once you've volunteered you are remembered as someone who volunteers for things and next time you're top of the list. There's also the fact that if you volunteer you're definately doing it, if you wait until you're ordered to there's a chance that someone else will get pinged

You're right of course. Perhaps I enjoy needling a certain log-certified logger by going out of my way to SLR? You're not going to take away that simple little stupid pleasure of mine are you?

I won't lose sleep over it, but we need decorum man!
