Welcome to my GC 1941-45 AAR played against timmyab. I'm playing the Germans, he is playing the Soviets.

Without further ado, this is the German progress of week 1. As you can see, the panzers are rolling East without delay, and several pockets have been formed. AGS has attempted to envelop a huge number of Soviet divisions, but did not succeed fully in the first 7 days. It remains to be seen whether this can be accomplished within the next day, or whether the Red Army units there will manage to escape.

Obviously, any input and ideas by other players are more than welcome! Compared with my previous PBEM when I advanced as much as I could, and didn't really bother to envelop units and completely annihilate them (just attacked them until they routed, or if I was lucky, shattered), I'm advancing slightly slower this time, making sure I pocket as many Red divisions as I possibly can to kick them out of the war for good. The pros are obvious, although a serious con is the fact that most of my infantry is still at their starting positions. But I guess since the pockets should be annihilated next turn (provided he isn't able to rescue them) that shouldn't be a big issue.

The general situation:

The not-yet-closed AGS pocket:

And we're on turn 2, and Barbarossa is progressing nicely. Berlin congratulates Romania on entering the war against the USSR.

The progress of Army Group North. That pocket is due to be eliminated next week:

The situation in the Centre:

And the South. The pocket was finally closed, and is due to be annihilated next week. All three Army Groups should finally have the bulk of their infantry ready to advance behind the fast moving panzers:

The losses. So far the Wehrmacht annihilated 53 Soviet divisions.

(for some reason the forum won't let me edit the previous post, so I'm reposting, now with working images)
