Hiya Rob! Found your way here I see. :b:

I'm still considering your offer to play WitE, don't have either the game or the answer yet. :)

He got it. you have War in the Pacific and then you have the Admiral's Edition.

Okay, just trying to direct you to the easiest method. I have heard of people going by phone, but probably 98% of us do the online. We have no patience.

Caution is a good thing in this day and age, and I would not suggest it if I did not have the utmost confidence in it.

Welcome to Matrix. Last of the true war gaming developers (in my opinion).

Good to see new people around.

Its funny I've had my card on my desk for a couple days now as I've tried to order games but it hasn't once rolled over. Seems to be better at playing dead. ;)

Some say expansion, it is a whole new game. Even us WITP vets had a hard time learning the new curve. And I still have not learned it all.

If you want an idea of WITE, I have 2 AAR's going in the forum. You can slim that list down to just that one, the others will sit in the box it is so good. LOL

Thanks for the welcome 2ACR!

I've been lurking for a few weeks, checking out the forums and doing some research for a couple of purchases.

I bought BtfB last week and I'm really getting into that. I was going to leave WitE until the NZ winter, but the more I read the less I can resist!

Only problem is the Mrs. was horrified to hear that I lost 750 men in one of the BftB scenarios. Imagine her reaction when I play WitE........

ACR2, can you recommend a plan of attack once I purchase WitE? Is there a best way to get stuck in as quickly as possible? I've heard tutorial, then 'road to' scenario. Any further recommendations??

The forums are the best place for the research. As you can tell, we are pretty opinionated about the games we play. But we strive for the best we can get, and when the Devs are involved as mush as they are around here, well can you blame us?

We bicker among our selves a lot too. We try to be helpful, and some can be pretty short fused (answer the same answer 1 million times) but the search function here sucks (we all know it) and a lot of times the answer you want is buried in a 12 page thread. Never be afraid to ask questions here. Just ignore the grumpy answer's.

Well, I went straight to the Grand Campaign. It is that easy to get the basic's down. Then I start learning the supply rules etc. The AI will amaze you, but like all AI's it cannot compare to a human. But the turns move pretty fast. Some guys recommend the small scenario's. And they are fun and teach you the basic's. That alone will suck you in deep.

Play the AI a few times (I did about 4 games up to 1942) and then I did one to 1943. It is nice to work a 7 day on 7 day off schedule in the winter. I did a few dozen up to winter 41. Then it was PBEM city for me.

Oh and wait till she hears you lost 200,000 in a turn.

Thanks 2ACR, I'll check that out. I think WitPAE might be something for the future...

Here's what it says here about ordering by phone.

"To purchase any Matrix Games products you can visit our E-store at http://www.matrixgames.com/store.asp and purchase the game(s) of your choosing. There are many different payment options available as well. If you live in North America you can call your order in at, 952-646-5257"

I do live in the US also, have a US bank credit card and wish the games sent to my home in the US. I don't see that as a problem. The problem is the gentleman I speak to when I call isn't up to the task and when I get put on hold it burns through my cell phone load. Five minutes on hold only to hear that he can't find the game is getting costly.

I messaged the Matrix fellow you mentioned as being here 2ACR and hope he looks in and sees what I just wrote. I think its important to put the problem in as succinct a manner as possible.

I'd like to call back, have the person be able to find the games I'm asking for and do it in a reasonable amount of time. I'd like to give my card #, have the boxed editions shipped to my home in the US and if possible download the games so I can play them now.

Matrix gents, please post here or PM me when I can order by phone.

That's about it, thanks!

No problem Cav, like I said, probably be Monday or so, but I will point Erik to this thread once I see him online.

Oh, and don't be put off by lack of response from people, it takes a while to sort out the spam bots that post here too.

Thanks 2ACR, I'm not put off. I just reread the thread and found that I didn't relate very well and did a better job.

I do believe the problem will be solved and the games ordered. Hey! If it were not for this little problem I'd have never had the chance to chat with a fellow from the 2nd ACR, my old unit. :)

I found a 'contact us' page that might help you out (top right). They haven't got a 'customer services' recipient, but you might like to try one of the other options and enclose a link to this thread. You never know.....

parusski, thanks for the PM. No help yet, I'm waiting for someone connected to post in this thread. Unfortunately when I try to reply to a PM I'm unable to type in the reply field, so I reply to you here.

It's important to be patient due to a loss suffered by one of the admins, and others too I gather. So, no rush.

My credit card finally flipped so I have just taken the plunge!

On ordering via this website I notice that one of the payment options was 'Phone' (another was fax if that helps). I trialled this method to see what it did and discovered that it gives you two phone numbers to call and an order reference code to tell the Maxis phone staff regarding your order. I'm presuming that they can then reference your order and see what you have ordered and where you would like it sent to!! This looks like giving you the best of both worlds - you can order exactly what you want and don't have to rely on MAxis staff to find what you are after, and you can keep your credit card info secure!

No excuses now General! I'll see you on the frozen steppes!! ;)

Good luck!
(with the ordering, not on the battlefield!)

Thanks Rob, I'll give that a whirl!

Edit...This might work I'm at the phone # page. The numbers they give might be toll free in which case it might not. I'll try tomorrow after the party.

Even if it doesn't work this gives me a way to order when I get back to the US.

Funny, they only allow me to order 2 games at once. When I list the 3rd it displaces the prior.

There is a bug in the shopping cart which Plimus are trying to fix - if you do not use the continue shopping button before navigating away from the page then the last thing you added will be forgotten. If you use continue shopping it should all be fine!

This one is more of a feature really than a bug - it has been missing since day 1 and they have just not had time to add it in partly due to the number of other issues that came up after launch. It will all get sorted and once its all working it will allow all sorts of cool new stuff.

Hi CavLancer,

Sorry I missed this earlier. If you need any more help ordering, please send me an e-mail at erikr@matrixgames.com and I'll help out in any way possible.

I've been either sick or away for most of January, so I'm behind on e-mails and PMs but should be catching up soon.

Regards,

- Erik

Just go to the store and enter you CC# info there. You can have the game shipped where ever you want. You can also download the games right away and have the actual game shipped to what ever address you want.

That is what we all do. It is secure and usually very painless

Primus now handles the download version. There is no instant avaliable. They send you an email telling you the hard case version has been shipped and a conformation email with a download link to your game. I never did get the free download and advise not to buy the download only. Getting the disk, manual and case is old fastion but at least I got the game even if I never did get a correct order number of the three conformation emails all had a different order numbers.
Do like the man says use your credit card and have the games shipped to your home address. Don't ever give it to some stranger. the download is safe and i have ordered 8 or so games with a credit card and if anything goes wrong they will get your money back.

I'm at a bit of a loss Erik. Part of the problem is I'm so far away and the calls are spendy, the progress zip. Don't really want to put my credit card info through these machines.

The games I want are...

The Operational Art of War III
World War One Gold
War in the East
Empires in Arms

If I could make a quick call to relate the shipping address and credit card #, I'd be grateful. Its a mastercard.

Oppss, you mentioned email, I'll put this in one. Thanks

2ACR, how do?

A friend is playing WitE and has had an AI Sov army just escape from a pocket he thought they could not escape from. Has that ever happened to you, can the AI just 'beam out' of a pocket?

At the very bottom of this page you can see the screen shots that pertain.

There was a bug in one of the first version IIRC. This was or is being fixed. Thye should be releasing the Beta 3 patch to us really soon. That has all kinds of good fixes.

I jts happened to see this, easier to PM me or make a post in the WITE forum. I ma not up here often.

You get in touch with Erik above?

Its okay if it takes time, I also mean to remind him. I did send the email, listed my shipping address and the 4 games I want though I'm now considering adding the WitP admiral's addition. I asked him for a # I can call with my credit card, ought to be quick if they already have the games listed and the address. Last time I tried to order I burned through half of the load, $25 iirc, and got zip.

Anyway, wanted to ask you about the admiral's addition too. Think I can handle it from a wargaming history but a cold start? Or, should I get the regular WitP and work up?

That is a tough question there. AE is micro management to the max. You have to plan and think 6 months in advance. LOL

WITP, you think 4 months in advance. LOL

So be prepared. If you have never played Uncommon Valor, you are looking at a learning cliff. Wide and deep. You have been warned. That goes for either game. They are great games, but can also be overwhelming to new people. Only 1500 or so turns in the full war scenario.

I have seen many people throw hands in air and say they wasted money. I have had WITP since release, and same for AE. I still find something I did not know in AE. You have to really, really get into the game and learn it.

Okay, I have to think on that a bit. I live part time here in the Pacific in the Philippines so it is the local theater of WW2. In fact a Japanese task force went between us here on Bohol and Mindanao in '44. It was the southern task force in a three pronged last ditch effort to oppose the landings. Very famous battle, the culmination was a bunch of USN destroyers making a suicide run which caused the Japanese admiral to about face.
