A third SBD strike attacked ships at trinket hex again but were intercepted and took some losses w/ no hits..

It may be that setting the p39 at 100 feet sweep pulls enemy CAP down from Max altitude and the game engine keeps the high altitude manuver rating....hummmm.

Flak losses over Car nicobar. FatR was aggrivated about losing a DD. Wonder what FatR will do next?  Hummmm. I bet he will shell Car next turn. Nothing I can do to stop him..

Andamans,  alot of naval engagements...The effect of ADM Palliser having an 80 aggression rating can not be underestimated...Looks like i will lose the R. Soveriegn.  The Japs have made a tactical withdrawal from trinket and Trinket was shelled by the British  on the night of the 11th and bombed by b17s the next day.  Subs detected the arrival of the Mitsu battle group at Trinket.  Also 4 sqns of b17s finally arrived around the cape to assist in the destruction of all jap airfields w/in 17 hexes of Andamins, so the stakes have gone up.  Strategy at Andaman air defense is to represent the entire allied Aforce thru at least one ftr sqn of each type frame available to spread the losses and drain the IJAAF of pilots.  So if FatR fights he loses.  If he does nothing he still loses.  FatR will have to invade the Andamans to stop the bleeding.  Think of the allies as a pit bull terrier that wont let go..

Burma.  Lead recon elements have taken Warazup.  Seems the brits have linked up w/ the chinese in north burma.  One chinese division has found 5 Jap armored units at Lashio.

China. air recon shows 37 IJA units on the move headed south from Zian.  Seems to be a supension of fighting around the Changsha area.  IJA on the move in south china.

Australia.  Reinforcements are headed by land to stamp out the IJA bridgehead in NW Austrailia. Action in about 7 days.

SoPac.  Major land reinforcements continue to flow into the area.  The enemy still can go wherever he wishes by sea but I question any future invasions are possible unless he combines the fleet for a major assault.

Hawaii.  2 game weeks ago IJN had 197ships at Lahani for the b17 strike.  Today he has 47.

FatR is wearing down the allied ftr sqns to where I am concerned I have enough planes in the rear for flight training.

If I give up the Air War over the Andamans then 6 divisions plus support are at risk of elimination.

If I keep up the AiR wall then are the losses worth the long term damage to the pilot training.

What is a reasonable loss rate?

I suspect I need to open a second front to relieve pressure on the Andamans.

Another alternative is to respawn all of the andaman units incase of elimination.

You really don't need full squadrons for pilot training. A few planes will do. It is true that they train better in the experience category with more planes (don't know the magic %), but you can do quite well with 1/2, 1/4, or even less filled squadrons.

After all, there is a war on!

I think the important thing is the overall loss ratio and the pilot loss ratio. If you're doing well on both, then I think that absolute losses are pretty irrelevant; eventually the IJN and IJA will run out of pilots and airframes. The trick is to run him out first :).

If you can get some USAF and marine groups over there as well, then that'll help spread the losses out over more airframes and pilot pools. Its a long trip around the cape though.

Air losses

If that's typical I'd say keep it up until the universe collapses into a point mass.
That's what, 26 Japanese losses in return for 2 fighters and a PBY?
26:3 is a good exchange ratio in my book :).

Amazing the oscar losses jump 200 planes in 4 days.  A6m2 has been pulled from the fight.  Guess the IJAAF wants to make room in the sendia's for the new Ki44 which has started showing up. Must be fog of war because the campagn screen count shows only 100 plane loss for japan total from 21 to 25 but this screen print shows 270 oscars downed.

Hi Bigred, I am still following this game.
The losses you see in the Aircraft losses screen tend to be wildly inaccurate and fluctuate a lot, I think that the points shown in the campaign screen are accurate however. Whatever, FatR`s plane losses have been absolutely horrible. How many planes do you think he is producing a month at the moment? I am sure that he cannot keep losing 10 Sallies a day.
You can mail me at my gmail address if you want any suggestions.

If he is losing all those Oscars, then he may have pulled back his best Army fighters to be upgraded to Tojo soon.

I use Tracker as the Allies as it gives a more accurate count of actual air losses. There are other areas that help via Tracker.

IJAAF presses the air attack in the CBI area w/ dismal results.  Also a IJN transport fleet w/ CVs showeded itself off xmas  line island.  I hope he makes a landing as I have a nasty surprize for him.

2nd Georgetown raid in 2 days seems to get a good result...Hit on 3 BBs each.  But lost one b17.  I wonder how acurate the report is?

Don't know how accurate, but 500 GP (is that what B-17's use?) bomb hits on battleships are likely to do little. Much better than no hit, of course! They might knock out AA guns or small guns and the like.

Have to agree on this. GP bombs pretty much bounce on battleships or the more advanced CA designed. Probably annoying for your opponent though; maybe you can goad him into moving some fighters there as CAP.

Allies recieved a "main body" report from just south of Trinket.

IJAAF has worn down the Andaman air defense to a point where it appears FatR has started moving transport ships forward for a possible invasion.

Battle fleet w/ CV attached has sat on L.A.  Up til this turn i could resupply Andamans at will.  I lost about 5 AKs around Andamans this turn to IJN sub action....  not safe on the port, not safe on the sea.

Burma:

A few turns ago allied intel received this tidbit:

This data has caused me not to overcommit into Burma.  The complexity of the situation places me in a quandry as to :
Can I force a Central Burma attack w/ the threat of an invasion in the rear?
I suspect that w/ the equvalant of 6 DB SQNs in the area IJN could not make a good resupply effort.
On the down side I see that Chittachong is a level 7 airfield....
Chinese elements have linkedw/ the Brits in northern Burma. Ledo controlled by IJA w/ 6 armor regiments...IIRRC I must hold Ledo to get the China suppy. I plan to use the b25/26 w/ chinese Lusu army to clear the hex.

China:
No effort by IJA to expand up north.  Seems a 37 stack army was seen headed south from Sian around the 1st of September. IJA has stalled around Changsha.  Continued attacks coming from the south.
With less pressure up north I have too many units in that area.

Australia:
I have turned Hobart into a big gas station.  No fuel on  australia itself..Not sure this is a good idea but I do have plenty of fuel now for the southern fleet.
IJA picked a fight at port headland...good experience for the Aussies.
Put a brigade Plus at Cocos,  Did not move fast enough to get xmas Indian ocean

Sopac:
Japs have a strong 3 base defense around Lunga.
Same situation around Milne bay.  will have to advance w/out air cover.  dangerous to take these bases until I get moe CVs.

Cenpac:   Jap Ak fleet showed up at Xmas w. some CVs about 5 turns ago...Wish they had given me another front....I had the 27th and 41st Divisions prepped and in position w/ lots of support and 200000 supply.  2nd,3rd marines, a NZ divisiona nd about3 more separate regiments make up the rest of the Sopac land forces. FTR has about 150 p40s scattered from Xmas to Eastern Aus.  A good defense but I wonder if I can push forward w/ out a direct base attack against the Japs....

Norpac:  islands around Dutch Harbor each have one regiment plus support at each site.  Average fort level of 3.  I am sending up air as it becomes available.

Wait wait... I play as the Japs, and my sign int screen only shows location and radio/heavy volume radio... Allies get much more SignInt, or have I missed something?

I have had trouble w/ the signet part of tracker.  Currently cant get the intel to load.  May be because I usually load 7 or more turns at one time.

I wonder if FatR is trying to set up a West Coast Blockade w/ his CV fleet?   Look at this intel from this turn. Precautions will be taken.
