Gentlemen,

As some of you might have noticed, I do tend to look up the manual a lot.

One result of checking up on the manual is that it is starting to fall to bits. Not yet, but soon, I am going to be in need of finding a local printer to print and bind the manual for me. So the question is do any of our Sydney, Australia colleagues have a printer recommendation.

Alfred

A different answer than you sought - Alfred, I would recommend putting a shortcut to the PDF on your desktop and using that. It seems less convenient at first but I've gotten used to it.

BTW, I'm currently trying out the Sumatra PDF reader (free) as a faster alternative to Adobe's Acrobat Reader and it does start up significantly faster.

Some of the (free) alternative PDF readers also allow you to take notes and highlight in a PDF (I would make a backup clean copy first).

In the past I've also just gone and printed certain manuals myself, then used either binder clips or three ring binders (get a three hole punch to make that much easier), either single or (with a newer printer) double sided. That's worked out pretty well too.

Sorry I don't know any printers in Sydney...

I used office works printed to A4 size. In black and white it costs about $30. What I liked most is they use high quality paper.

darken92,

In my preliminary research I had not identified Office Works (the Coles subsidiary I presume) as providing a printing service with binding. Do you know whether it is provided only by your local outlet or is it gnerally available. Certainly the price of $30 appears to be quite reasonable.

WITPQS,

Thanks for the comments. I do use the PDF manual occasionaly, blame this troglodyte but I generally find reading printed material easier on the eyes and flipping at random from one page to another to be a quicker means to access information. Ideally, a professionally printed and bound manual at A4 size for only $30AUD sounds like a good deal. I doubt that the cost of a home printing would be that much cheaper, plus there is always a certain satisfaction from being able to blame someone else when something doesn't quite turn out right.

The only time I had a manual printed was just as a loose leaf binder so I caould make notes on the opposite page. But that was a few years ago.
There was a Kinko in CBD of Sydney who could do the printing, but they have apparently closed down.

Now I just use PDF files
