Good night to our European friends.

And everyone else too. I've got a steak and several pints of locally brewed stout in me and I'm ready for bed.

Dear Thread, what a week.

Hi all,

Good morning!

Flu...

I had 39.4 degrees Centigrade temperature (103 degrees Fahrenheit) for two days... just stayed in bed too week to get up... I feel like run over... luckily wife is three days in front of me so I helped her and she helped me (and she didn't have that high temperature)...

Difficult time : i would like to see her recovery a bit quicker. I absolutely not urge her or blame her or anything wrong.
Making things for her make me feel needed and having a meaning in my life. But sometime "boiling" inside because i would like her to take care of her herself when that is about trivial things......

But asking myself daily:
- a new job? What for ?
- loosing those damned 60 pounds that overweight me ? why the effort ?
- stopping smoke ? why ?
- making my job correctly ? why, officers don't care, as my 3 interview in my administration show.
- finding a hobby suiting me ? Why, i feel bad, i can't see what would change this
......and so on, and so on.....

Oh sorry THREAD; that's not a funny post. Will try not to polute anymore the humor of my brothers threadster.

I am indeed. My grandad went to White Hart Lane with his three boys in the thirties and most of the wider family followed, and have continued to follow, Tottenham as a result (although there are some defectors!) .

Sadly, within a few years of beginning my support for the team we lost our first ever major cup final, our "fans" went on the rampage, thus expelling us from European football, and we were then relegated from the old 1st division...

Still, had a few good times since then I'm pleased to say - and one of my best memories in life is getting to watch Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City in the 1981 FA Cup final with my dad - absolutely priceless

Are you are football man Leo?

I watch and love football - yep!

BTW, Modric, Kranjcar and Corluka all came to Tottenham from my club - Dinamo Zagreb...

MUAHAHAHAA !

Minor victory against my car workshop (name? "garage" instead?) today. I left my car there this morning for some minor servicing.

They phoned me some hour before lunch, telling me that they had to exchange all sleeves at the rear wheel suspensions, as they were not fitted correctly.

Me: "How nice of you to find it. Since it was your workshop that fitted those very same sleeves last April, and you use the practice of giving a one year warranty on all your jobs, then you could just fix it for free then ... ?"

They: "Ah, um ... wait a moment ... <clickety click> ... ah yes sir, we can see in our computer that we actually that did that job. We will fix it for you (In a more than grumpy tone)" ...

When I picked up the car just 30 mins ago, the guy at the customer reception told me that they had to put two guys working on that for the entire afternoon. Apparently, the mech who did the job last April had used wrong-sized nuts & bolts and forced them into place. That was why the sleeves weren't fitting correctly. The two guys fixing it had to cut away every one of them.

Oh, how I love punishing shoddy work!

ETA: The mech that did the shoddy work apparently didn't work there anymore. If he did, I would've loved being a fly on the wall when the other mechs who had to correct it caught up with him.

Better you than me, big guy. We're going to be above 0C for much of this weekend. We've had about 3-6 hours of temperature above freezing since mid-December.

Nickademous,

I won't presume to give advice on your personal relationship; partly because no one on the thread truly knows all the relevant facts, and because I am not a thread brother.

What I would say is look towards your dogs. Dogs are very loyal towards people who are inherently good. Dogs seem to have an acute inbuilt ability to distinguish between good humans and those who are somewhat shady. They are non judgemental and extremely loyal. On most criteria, dogs are a much more valuable friend than a girl. Once you earn their trust, you truly have their trust for life, and nothing you ever do subsequently will threaten that trust.

Your GFU behaviour is capricious, that of your dogs is never capricious. The love of a woman can be transitory, but that of a dog never. Your present situation is something that will recede with the pasage of time. If the dogs remain with you, the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune will merely bounce off.

Returning the thread to its usual denizens.

Alfred

Thx for the advice.

Regrettably, the dogs stay with the xGFU. I will miss them.

I am planning on moving out Sunday. Things have become intollerable.
