Time to kidnap the dogs. If they remain with the ex, it doesn't sound as if they would be taken to the pub. You just can't leave leave them in captivity...They need to be with their pack leader.

No. Can't have that. Leave them with their owner. If you took them, it would create significant tendrils for this relationship, possibly some legal complications.

It sucks that this relationship will have to change / end (the relationship with the dogs, that is), but if the xGFU is the rightful owner, then Nik really has no recourse. If she feels wronged by his disappearance with the dogs / dognapping, then she's got legal grounds to hound (pun intended) him to the ends of the Earth. The dogs may have to take one for the team.

Unless...

There's an old Indian (eastern Indian) expression. "Give freely with one hand that which will be taken from your two hands".

If you're going to lose them anyways because they're hers, offer her a 'compromise'. You keep dog X, she keeps dogs Y and Z or get her to sign over legal ownership of all dogs as a 'final compromise' for your relationship. Explain how problematic it is to provide care to them all or how expensive they are to maintain as a single woman. Or give something else in exchange for sole custody for the dogs (perhaps the DVDs she likes?).

Spike is her dog. She once said that she'd give him to me if we ever broke up but that was years ago and even then i knew she was lying. Chennelle is 'our' dog but like children, i don't think it would be fair to split them up....they have always been with each other. The dobbie will be found a home as xGFU can't stand him.

Moot point anyway. I can't fit dogs in the car.

How could anyone not like a dobberman. That should have been a warning sign.

Won't Nik's passenger seat be able to accomodate the dobberman. Given the choice between a foster home and remaining with his drinking buddy, I think we all know what the dobberman would choose.

Really, if the final outcome is the dogs have to be left behind, the situation has spiralled out of control. It might be wishful thinking, but somehow I just don't get the feeling that the new male will be a satisfactory pack leader. The two remaining dogs will accomodate the new hierarchy but they won't forget the preferable prior arrangement. The dogs could be the wedge which drive the new arrangements apart.

Best to be very far away when those hit.

Why don't you 'mobile' down here to NC for a bit and see if you can land a tech job. I'm sure that between USS and myself we could arrange for some accomodations for you while you test the market.

Thx for the offer. really appreciate it.

My primary challenge at the moment is that i have some debts i was in the middle of settling. That makes me squeemish about resigning the job and moving. Hence, my timetable is up in the air in regards to the full move thing.

Jobs are so hard to find right now....so it makes me nervous.

That quote combined with her dislike of the doberman is a damning indictment of your xGFU.

Dogs adapt to new circumstances, but they never forget. You can be quite certain that the dogs will remember which human saved them recently from the gas leak. They won't know what were the circumstances which led to you and not her to arrive home first, but they will remember it was you, the pack leader who rescued them. Also it will be very subtle, but the doberman would have picked up on the vibes that the xGFU did not care for him.

Whenever you start to get guilty feeling that you might be at fault (as per your subsequent post), banish those thoughts immediately with the recognition that the true friend of the dogs is you, not the xGFU. As I said before, dogs really do know who are the better humans. It is remarkable just how often females are envious of a good dog-human pack leader relationship.

I am indeed. My grandad went to White Hart Lane with his three boys in the thirties and most of the wider family followed, and have continued to follow, Tottenham as a result (although there are some defectors!) .

Sadly, within a few years of beginning my support for the team we lost our first ever major cup final, our "fans" went on the rampage, thus expelling us from European football, and we were then relegated from the old 1st division...

Still, had a few good times since then I'm pleased to say - and one of my best memories in life is getting to watch Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City in the 1981 FA Cup final with my dad - absolutely priceless

Are you are football man Leo?

I watch and love football - yep!

BTW, Modric, Kranjcar and Corluka all came to Tottenham from my club - Dinamo Zagreb...

Glory hunters the pair of you! Although Simon has clearly chosen the wrong team for that I still get asked who my Premier League team is

I'm pretty much the first in my family (well my Dad's side at least) with any interest in football so I had to choose for myself. Look how that ended up The best player I've ever seen at 'my' clud was Darren Huckerby

Glory Hunter? I had no choice but to go with my dad's choice - and I in return I have given my daughters no choice but to support Spurs too.

In my book you fail the t*** test if you switch support - EVER, I left the glory hunting to the t****** who, funnily enough, all supported Liverpool in the 70's and early 80's (they are probably all Chelsea/Arsenal/Man Utd fans now ).

I always thought Darren Huckerby was a Sincil Banker, but never realised he played for Lincoln City.

Wasn't sure about Modric when he came to Spurs but he really has come on leaps and bounds now he has found his feet in the Premiership . We need to qualify for the Champions League or him, Bale and Van der Vaart are looking vulnerable to poaching .

I like Corluka - he's the steady alternative to Hutton at right back (less mistakes - but less attacking options). Kranjcar I'm not sure about. He has no pace - which a lot of English footballers seem to lack too (do we need another one? ) - although is capable of producing trickery from time to time.

Still think the best thing about Croatian football is their brilliant home kit!!

He only played (iirc) 5 games but they still count There have been a handful of decent(ish) players come through in recent years. Jack Hobbs went to Liverpool (and left again), Scott Loach was here as well and we'll net some extra cash if the rumours about your lot signing him come true

Funnily enough no-one in Lincoln would ever admit to being a City supporter when I lived there I've got no interest in supporting anyone else, in a strange way I'm proud that I support a team who are pretty rubbish, even by League 2 standards I've got an interest in Plymouth Argyle as well, who are also doing not too well recently.

Well, jeez, louize, it's Girl Scout Season. Neighbors came by the other evening and set me down, saying "we know you're not from around here, but you seem ok, so here's your opportunity to fit right in - seems our daughter is a Girl Scout and has some cookies to sell .." and then smile and wait with that expectant expression.

"Cool, says I, she must be a regular darling. We have Girl Scouts in Cali, too. We have so many out there, I made a rule that I will only buy one box from anybody, but I will buy one box from everybody who comes to the door." So the neighbors are happy and, sure enough, there's 3 or 4 knocks on the door, and I go to the grocery store this morning and go out the exit and there's this table with mom and three of the cutest little things you will ever see ... "hi sir, do you want to buy some cookies?"

Anyway, I got Thin Mint, Peanut Butter, and Shortbread cookies up the wazoo; enough to last until perhaps this time next year. Anybody got any fun recipies that I can use these in. They do get stale after a while and I would hate for them to go to waste.

Ciao. John

That sounds like the situation my brother went through when he broke up with his wife. Everything was his fault and she blamed her cheating on him as well. Once her family and friends, especially her mother, get involved in blaming you it's over

I can't help much, but I'm here if you want someone else to talk to. Not so sure I'd be a useful place to lodge though...

I know we don't do politics here (and for good reason), but it's still fantastic to watch today's events in Cairo. Haven't seen anything like it since November 1989...

I hope to Thread that this follows 1989's model and not 1848. So many diverse groups in Egypt one wonders if they will have their own Paulskirchenverfassung...
