Kids are off school, and Alex has a hockey lesson.  As good of an excuse as any to take the day off work.

A certain large Midwest University where I am employed closed the campus due to the snowfall for half the day. Very unusual for around these here parts, although we have received between 14-17" in the last 24 hours.

Makes for an ideal opportunity to use 0.5 day vacation and get the balance off! We'll probably go play in the snow later this afternoon. Oh yeah, I need to finish liquidating certain troublesome digital defenders of Darwin too.

Hot coffee and a combat replay to watch.

Yup. "Nothing to see here, folks. Move along." Just another ho-hum day in the war.

That replay was..... busy.

Do you guys still have a navy?

The Allies? You bet! We're trading PT's for transports. Life is good.

If Steve get's his way, you will wish the defenders were only as troublesome as they currently are.

Still beats the hell out of a day at the office!

BTW, in my 5 Winters in Rochester, we never saw a single snowfall over 7 inches.

I've never seen more upbeat Allied foes!

The next few days will see some 20,000+ Dutch defenders of Soerbaja liquidated in toto. Combined with the one's that you've lost already on Batavia, will lose soon on Bataan and around Darwin, that's a lot of dudes. Yet you keep smilin'. You're tougher than I would be after taking such one-sided losses, mate.

Superfluous xAKs? We got plenty of those.

Hey...how much of this good-natured enthusiasm is due to rum punch anyways?

A THREAD confession of sorts:

Wife Unit DVR'ed a "Masterpiece Theatre" mini-series, "Downton Manor"-season 1. I really enjoyed it. Extremely well done costume drama.

I've enjoyed a number of similarly timed costume dramas too-most notably "Pride and Prejudice" and versions of Austen's "Sense and Sensibility" and the other usual Austen's suspects.

Why do I have the feeling my tastes are either very British (shudders) or very....well...let's just say 'not that there's anything wrong with that'.

Many moons ago, when my younger cousin rushed a fraternity, the hazing consisted of listening to "Ice, Ice Baby!" By Vanilla Ice 24/7. At night, when the pledge wannabes were sleeping, they'd turn down the music really low. To wake them up in the morning, they'd blare it. It was on at meals, parties, and other activities for 3 full days.

I'd have thought the Geneva Convention would have something to say about that.

Notice no one is celebrating with a drink. It was during Prohibition.
